[Future Bass] Kanye West – All Of The Lights (Prince Fox X Hotel Garuda Cover)

Kanye West
All Of The Lights (Prince Fox X Hotel Garuda Cover)

Being that it was Hotel Garuda‘s 1st birthday couple days ago, they decided to treat their fans (and themselves) to a collab remix with NY-based producer Prince Fox. Stripping down Kanye West‘s “All Of The Lights” and dressing it up with a future bass outfit, the three talented individuals did the then-Top 40 track justice by showing creativity and originality. Starting off with a series of pleasant piano chords, the hip-hop classic is then suited with a house beat accompanied by vocal samples that are robotized and lowered in pitch. A catchy bassline combined with bold synth leave everyone in awe as to how the heck they managed turn the original into this future house goodness. The celeste synth in the middle that color the main melody of the track steal the spotlight unexpectedly, giving it a rather ominous and mysterious vibe.

With this release, both Hotel Garuda and Prince Fox once again proved that genres don’t define their music. Every remix has been a surprise, showing diversity and talent. You’ll be on your toes anticipating for new stuff coming out. Hats off to these producers, and stay tuned!

[NEW] Pusha T – Lunch Money (prod. Kanye West)

Pusha T
Lunch Money (Prod. Kanye West)

Pusha T has had one of the most interesting career trajectories in hip-hop–from legitimate dope dealer to half of one of the greatest hip-hop duos ever to a potent solo artist and Kanye West‘s go-to feature emcee. His debut solo album, My Name is My Name, cemented his relevancy in the current rap landscape with its ferocious lyricism, versatile storytelling and general crazy-eyed energy. Naturally, his work with his G.O.O.D. Music label-boss, Kanye West, has marked some of his most groundbreaking recent work (see: “Numbers on the Board”) and today we get another collaboration with the first single from his upcoming 2015 sophomore album, King Push, which is due out early next year.

“Lunch Money” sees West once again crafting an unorthodox, minimalistic instrumental for Push with a bubbling, looped pad and a stuttering sample reminiscent of some of the Neptunes productions from the Clipse days. As always, King Push brings the heat with lines like, “Shout out my Mac-11 mobsta/Grew up on Nintendo playing contra/and though that n***a only 5’9″/100 bodies on his timeline.” Eghk

[NEW] Lorde – Flicker (Kanye West Rework)

Lorde
Flicker (Kanye West Rework)

With the help of Lorde‘s curation, the soundtrack for the latest installment of The Hunger Games is shaping up to be quite a compilation featuring a diverse selection of artists including CHVRCHES, Raury, Major Lazer and HAIM among others. The latest release from the soundtrack brings together two of music’s most dynamic superstars as Kanye West puts his spin on one of Lorde’s contributions to the album, “Yellow Flicker Beat.” As always, ‘Ye stuns creating an ominously spectacular progression accentuating the original’s powerful vocals.

This one bodes well for the upcoming Kanye West album that we’ve been hearing rumors about recently. While the overarching sound of his most recent album, Yeezus, is certainly evoked, West continues to march forward sonically incorporating his more experimental projects in perfect doses as he grows artistically. In some ways, his current position parallels the 808s & Heartbreak days in the sense that he’s finding ways to reinvent himself, absorb what works and incorporate it as a creative tool moving forward.

Enjoy the re-work, appropriately called “Flicker,” above. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Pt. 1 is in theaters November 21st and its soundtrack, which can be pre-ordered here, is out on November 17th.

It’s been a minute since we last heard any solo material from Big Sean, but the Detroit spitter has returned in a big way today (no pun intended). In honor of his recent signing to Roc Nation and the release of his own signature pair of Adidas shoes, Sean Don decided to share four brand new songs to celebrate his hustle. These aren’t exactly your average fare either, as the tracks feature production from an eclectic group that includes Mike WiLL Made ItKanye West, DJ Mustard, DJ Dahi, Key Wane, Nate Fox, Da Internz and L&F.

[Festival Review + Playlist] Take Us Back: Outside Lands 2014 Highlights through Photos & Songs

IMG_0244

During the Gold Rush, the area where Golden Gate Park currently resides was referred to as the “Outside Lands,” a sprawling seemingly uninhabitable expanse, before being adopted by the city of San Francisco and developed into what is now the gorgeous western portion of the city. Today, Outside Lands carries a whole new meaning as the the premiere music festival of the Bay Area located in the heart of the park. Every event has a unique charm and, for OSL, the magic of San Francisco’s physical and cultural beauty is truly at its core. With breathtaking scenery, quality food/wine and the lingering remnants of the hippie movement, Outside Lands 2014 served as yet another reminder of why the area has become, and has for so long been, such a desirable destination even with its famously cold summer weather.

Just over two weeks have passed since we took our final steps out of what was the most popular OSL in the event’s history. In the days following a festival, the mundanity of everyday life can become particularly evident. Luckily, with concerts, there’s always an artist’s music to revive the excitement of your most memorable, albeit sometimes least remembered, moments. This year’s Outside Lands lineup featured an incredible diversity in artistic styles making for a broad range of experiences to look back on. Join us as we take revisit a dozen of our top highlights from the weekend through photos and songs. Continue reading

[Video] Kanye West – Bound 2

Kanye West
Bound 2

After news that “Bound 2” was going to be the next single from Yeezus, Kanye West stopped by Ellen to debut the latest visual for his infectious track. The scenic Nick Knight directed clip includes beautiful imagery of mountains, wild horses, mystical forests, and West driving a motorcycle as his ‘ride or die’ fiancé accompanies him. Those that didn’t get a chance to watch Kim Kardashian‘s home vid get the added bonus of a topless future Mrs. West too.

The visual comes across a little like a corny proclamation of how much these two are in love and not as artistic as Ye probably intended. The motorcycle riding is a little cliché and the novelty of the topless Kim shots, although nice, are played out at this point. Considering that these two already have a baby and are engaged, we get that they are in love. One thing that didn’t make sense was the missing Charlie Wilson cameo. Take a look at the video below and be sure to cop Yeezus, available now.

Kanye West is currently still on tour with Kendrick Lamar and special guests A Tribe Called Quest.
