[Indie Electronic] KOLAJ x Eric Nam – Into You

If you haven’t heard of KOLAJ yet, you definitely will after “Into You”. This is one of those singles that can define an artist’s trajectory into big things, and their signature blend of tropical house and K-Pop brings together the best of both of those worlds. In their premiere with Fader, they exclaim,

We first got inspired by the tone of Eric’s voice, it’s breathy but cool in the verse so we wanted to playfully complement each other in a way that felt like we were incomplete without each other. We only got together for one day and basically turned out the entire song. We were big believers in the song even if it was outside of all of our comfort zones we still wanted to share with the world. K-Pop and Tropical could sound sweet together… perhaps we invented “K-Trop.”

Good luck getting this one out of your head because you’ll be hearing it all summer. Hit play and enjoy!

100 Degrees (ft. Quinn XCII)

Although KOLAJ hasn’t even been a group for a year, we’ve long been fans of theirs. Since their start, they’ve already amassed a strong following, been billed for shows, and collaborated with Kaskade. Pretty good track record if you ask us. Now, they are adding to their collection with another solid record, this time with Quinn XCII called “100 Degrees.”

This indie-dance meets pop record is another example of why KOLAJ is a need to know act. When these two end up on the radio, it will be no surprise as songs like this have been coming out of their camp since the beginning, however this may just be their best yet. It takes from several genres for a perfectly balanced mixture of sounds. As always, the vocals are on point, and the instrumental is out of this world. It’s only a matter of time before these two take over, so you better get with the program before everyone is already on board.

Can't Feel My Face (The Weeknd Cover)

After releasing their original song “The Touch,” Kolaj is back with a cover of “Can’t Feel My Face” by The Weeknd. The original has undoubtedly been one of the biggest records of the year, and this cover has to be one of the top remixes, bootlegs, covers or edits out there, as it’s already gotten mad love over the week it’s been out. The duo get a bit tropical with in style, but don’t dip quite so far as to reach Kygo status. They keep to their strengths and play off the sub-genre for one amazing cover of a song that has gotten a whole lot of attention from producers. By pumping out their own version, and bringing the vocal of Teesa, this is one extraordinary makeover. Want the track for your own digital library? Download it for free!

Songwriter Teesa, who caught the attention of Randy Jackson, has a new project with the producer Mighty Mike that they have dubbed KOLAJ. Fusing genres is becoming more and more common in the electronic world, and these two are bringing rock, pop and electronic all together for heart-felt records. Their first is called “The Touch” that they released just a few days ago. With their first single, they’ve already caught the attention of numerous individuals, as their indie dance sound is refreshingly awesome. Records that invigorate the listener are the most powerful, and “The Touch” does that every single time you press play. Teesa and Mike have something special on their hands, and we ninjas can’t wait to hear what else they have up their sleeves.
