[Indie Dance] Maroon 5 – Sugar (PRINSTON Remix)

Maroon 5
Sugar (PRINSTON REMIX)

Unless an awesome remix comes along, you won’t be hearing Maroon 5 coming out of my stereo. An awesome remix did in fact come along from the Swedish producer PRINSTON who took on the band’s record “Sugar.” He sweetened it up with his individualistic sound that can’t really be put into a box. That’s when you know you have something special on your hands. It’s really unlike most things that come through the dojo, taking from styles all over the board. PRINSTON has an affinity for indie styles, which do shine through in this remix. As a newer artist on the scene, he’s looking to make a splash, and I think this remix is serving up as perfectly executed cannonball. If you want to keep “Sugar” for yourself, all you need to do is click here for the free download.

Maroon 5 – She Will Be Loved (Matt DiMona Remix) [TMN Premiere]

She Will Be Loved (Matt DiMona Remix)

Matt DiMona has demonstrated time and time again that he is a force to be reckoned within the house department. Bringing back an era of Maroon 5 that we all agree should have never left, Matt takes She Will Be Loved under his wing and applies his textbook “Feel Good House” charm, chock full of uplifting synths and a tropical groove that we’ve grown to love from him.

From Niykee Heaton to Asher Roth, Matt continues his winning streak of remixes with this latest transformation of what has essentially become Adam Levine and friends, but he has reshaped an retooled the original’s pining approach for that of utter positivity and warmth. This tune gives us a nice glimpse into summer, which a lot of us are very much in need of at the moment. Make yourself a mojito and enjoy!

[New] Arcade Fire- Abraham’s Daughter

The soundtrack to The Hunger Games movie isn’t out until March 20th, but the hype surrounding its release is growing exponentially. The album is said to feature artists ranging from The Decembrists (a favorite of mine) to Taylor Swift and Maroon 5.

The Arcade Fire gracefully joins the ranks with a two song contribution of original music, their first release since The Suburbs, with one going to the soundtrack and one to the actual movie score. “We were interested in making music that would be more integral in the movie, just as a mental exercise,” Butler says in an interview over at EW. “And there’s an anthem that runs throughout the books, the national anthem of the fascist Capitol. So as a thought experiment, we tried to write what that might sound like. It’s like the Capitol’s idea of itself, basically.” He goes on to maintain that these songs are not pop or commercial, but are rather to further the movie experience. And if I know my Arcade Fire, I think they’ll do just that.
