[Mash-Up] Giorgio Moroder vs. SBTRKT – Chasing Pharaohs (Destructo Edit)

Giorgio Moroder vs. SBTRKT
Chasing Pharaohs

While we’re not entirely sure how Destructo -who by day runs one of the country’s largest event production companies in HARD– even has time to maintain a budding solo career, we’re pretty happy with the fruits of that labor. The genre bending producer added another personal milestone to the list with 10,000 Soundcloud followers, and as a gift to those loyal fans he’s chosen to give away an edit of the great Giorgio Moroder’s late 70’s hit “Chase” and “Pharaohs” from SBTRKT’s incredible 2011 self-titled LP. This one has been played out in a number of Destructo’s live sets, and we’re sure now as a free download will make it into many a DJ’s performance as Summer replaces itself with Autumn. Giorgio’s French pop-disco track actually sails quite smoothly over SBTRKT’s bass heavy, and groove laden sound signifying what we already knew… Destructo has an amazing set of ears in regards to what will sound good on a real set of PA’s. [Electronic] Durkin – Go.na.be

Boston based DJ/producer Durkin returns to the web today to drop a new free EDM jam titled “Go.na.be”. A metaphorical sequel to his last track “wa.na.be”, this funky mash-up for other well known tracks is a dance floor hit and hard to resist. Mixing together the sounds of Janet Jackson and Busta Rhymes from the hit single “What’s it Gonna Be” with some eccentric organ rips and heavy drum work, this dope single bounces from trap to electronic while still keeping the same elements of its sampled tunes.

[Mash Up] Kaskade, Diddy Dirty Money, & Dirty South – Coming Home at 4AM (Kaskade Mash Up)

Kaskade

Kaskade’s “4 A.M.” is easily my favorite song of his. Something about Becky Jean Williams’ soft voice as she coos over the lyrics just does it for me. I would always play that song on the way home from the club, venue, dj set etc.because it’s such a nice way to end the evening on a soft and sweet beat (and I know I’m not alone on this). I think Kaskade took that into consideration, mashing up 4AM with Diddy Dirty Money’s “Coming Home.” Not only do the two conceptually and lyrically work, Kaskade made magic throwing in an funky beat and a crazy build-up to go with it.

[Soft Indie Pop] Looking Back at The Rosebuds

rosebuds_band_web_1
How does music like this come out of somewhere like North Carolina? A hauntingly beautiful vocal (sung by The Rosebuds Duo of Ivan Howard and Kelly Crisp) is backed up by an equally beautiful guitar riff and a reverb heavy drum kit make this one of the most impressive songs that nobody knows about. The dark tone of ‘Life LIke’ is put together so nicely that it can be put together on repeat. So put it on repeat. Just hope that in the future The Rosebuds get a good marketing team behind them and maybe a good remix or two.

Great Songs You've Never Heard Before! [Indie/Folk/Alternative/Chillax/Mash-up]

All these songs have been brought straight from my inbox! Been posting a lot of electronic and remixes lately (not that there’s ANYTHING wrong with that) but I needed a very chill Sunday morning and decided to just skip all the electronic and remixes on my inbox and simply make a post that was more instrumental.

[Folk]

William The Contractor explains “I´m the contractor that refuses to become what the society wants me to be. I prefer to see myself as a happy man, it really doesn´t have to be more complicated than that”. And this is exactly why I like him so much. Getting back to the basics and create music that comes from the heart. Paying tribute to his late father, William The Contractor acts as a turning point to say Goodbye to death and hello to life. A mellow folk song that while at times its life-reflecting lyrics can sound depressing, the tender and hopeful vocals through the choruses transforms the song into a much charming piece.

[Mash-up]

Objektiv One is a producer from Dallas, Texas that has recently released his long titled EP: Beer Pong Champion: White Boy Party Mash Ups that contain three pretty awesome mash-ups. One of which is an amazing clash of Notorious B.I.G. “Juicy” Vs. Coconut Records “West Coast”.

[Chillax/Ambient]
It wasn’t until I started brining my iPod to work that I discovered Ambient music. I laughed at the very description of the genre. “Ambient” for me sounded like another way to say elevator music… which in some cases this is true. But the more I listen to this genre while I was doing something that required some type of thinking, the more I began to appreciate its effect on me. Songs like “And I Smile” by Glide & Swerve work extremely well when needing to concentrate as its slow tempo calms down the body while its easy listen does not distract you from the task at hand. In many cases, ambient music can put you in a trance of focus that many other genres are not able to.

[Fresh New Mash-ups/Remixes] Eminem

unreleased-old-school-eminem

I was a big fan of Eminem when he first came out. The Slim Shady LP and The Marshall Mathers LP were certainly favorites but as time went by I just stopped listening to his music. After 2006 it all just sounded the same to me. Granted, I have not had the chance to fully review Relapse and Relapse 2 myself (actually getting good reviews). I thought it would be more deserving to post a couple of fresh mash-ups/remixes and work his been featured in.
