Dropping today with a new single, the eccentric and creative Janelle Monáe treats fans to the uplifting “Q.U.E.E.N.”. It has been quite some time since we last heard some new material from the southern singer and she definitely takes listeners to the dancefloor with this funky tune. Teaming with fellow crooner and the always innovative Erykah Badu, the two bring the fun and dance rhythms over some soulful Nate Rock Wonder production. This is the first single off Monáe’s follow up album The Electric Lady, dropping later this summer.

Staying on his grind, he drops the official release for the banger “Upper Echelon”. This single finds the Houston rapper at home as he brings an auto-tuned assisted rhyme over the tough beat. Bringing along ATLien T.I. for a fast-paced verse and 2 Chainz to close out the track, this single is definitely a banger. In anticipation for his new album, southern emcee Juicy J has been on his grind lately. Following the success of his other single “Show Out”, he teams with Childish Major and C4 production to drop “Ain’t Coming Down”. The slow-paced, dark single find the former 36 mafia rapper spitting his usual hard hitting rhymes about money, drugs, and weed. This is definitely more on the “sit-back and light up” or “ride-out” sound than his previous banger, but is still worth a listen. Out to claim his Southern rap throne, Mississippi emcee Big K.R.I.T. drops his long awaited mixtape, King Remembered in Time this week. Seizing creative control, the 17 track album is mostly produced and penned by the underground phenom, and is completely free. He teams with mega-producer 9th Wonder on “Life is a Gamble,” and collabs with rap veteran Bun B, along with fellow newcomers Wiz Khalifa, Trinidad Jame$, Future, and BJ the Chicago Kid.
K.R.I.T. definitely delivers on this mixtape and shows off his unique talent of mixing the ratchet, trunk popping tunes with intellectually witty rhymes. Be sure to download the free tape here and grab your tickets to his upcoming West Coast tour, starting this May.

For the year and a half, fans have been teased with some quality fun and flirtatious sounds from British artist Charli XCX, such as her latest single “What I Like” (above). This week, she stops the teasing and delivers a full stream of her upcoming effort True Romance. The impressive LP brings together her usual synth-heavy sound mixed with some aggressive and charming beats that blend well with her vocal range. This 13-track album, due out April 16th, is definitely worth a listen and gives the listener a great taste of her singing skills and unique sound. Check it out below.
