Flapo had the fortunate opportunity to take a stab at “Young Hearts” and pulled through with an amazing turn around. Although the Summer is taken over by high energy festival records, tracks like Flapo’s slide through and take our breathe away. Episode #78: Pop Explorations + Mini-Mix

Built around new music from Gorillaz, HAIM & Sylvan Esso, this pre-recorded sesh became a meditation on pop music in the broadest sense. Highlighting some left field, up ‘n comers alongside those more established artists made for far-ranging sounds. To close the show, Ninja Ash took his XDJs out for a mini-mix of some vibey house tunes.

[Soul/Electronic] NoMBe – Wait

NoMBe
Wait

Appropriately self-described “Electric Soul” artist NoMBe has been putting out laid-back jams on Soundcloud for the past two years. Based out of Los Angeles, NoMBe’s distinct sound is characterized by smooth vocals and retro-funky guitar riffs. Signed in late 2016 to music accelerator Th3rd Brain Records (who have also signed Gallant and ZHU), Noah McBeth’s debut album They Might’ve Even Loved Me is due this year.

The first single off the album, “Wait”, was released to strongly positive reception on Australia’s Triple J radio earlier this month. NoMBe’s upcoming album “makes a tribute to all of the women that might’ve even loved him…”, and the inspiration from past romance and heartbreak comes through on his debut single. While the twang of his guitar evokes feelings of warm, hazy Los Angeles summers, McBeth’s lyrics on this track are all about lost love and blown opportunities. His light riffs are balanced with reverb-heavy, crunchy “Alt-R&B” style synth while he sings about finally approaching that special someone– hoping the feelings are mutual and that it’s not too late. Look for the rest of They Might’ve Even Loved Me to be as relatable and full of good vibes.
