[Electronic] Justice – Safe and Sound

Justice
Safe And Sound

Take a moment from your daily Pokemon catching rituals and think back to 2011. Was there even color TV that long ago? How did we get around before Uber? Remember what you were listening to? I would wager that – like all of the TMN staff – you were jamming to Audio, Video, Disco on repeat. Today, almost 5 years since AVD’s debut, French duo and electronic masterminds Gaspard Augé and Xavier de Rosnay have returned with their newest release, “Safe and Sound”. Continue reading

[Nu-Disco] Shy For Shore – Steal My Car (Hndmade Remix)

Shy For Shore
Steal My Car (Hndmade Remix) [EDM.Com Premiere]

We have quite a special tune for y’all today. Norwegian duo Hndmade came out with this unique remix of Shy For Shore‘s “Steal My Car”, and let’s just say the more you listen to it, the more addicting this gets! The track starts off with vocal sample from the original tune, accompanied by a series of 8-bit synth. The buildup to the juicy drop is ominous and bold, perfectly showcasing the group’s Scandinavian influence. The trip-hop approach of the track almost resembles Little Dragon, where the dark instrumentals further accentuate the pureness of the vocals.

Hndmade might be new but their skillset and knowledge are way beyond their years. Make sure to stay tuned for more dope remixes coming your way in from these talented European artists!

[House] Ace Of Base – All She Wants (SNBRN X Klatch Remix) [TMN Premiere]

Ace of Base
All She Wants (SNBRN X KLATCH Remix)

If there’s a better way to kick off a Monday than with a garagey, house remix of one of our favorite 90’s pop anthems, then well, we don’t even want to know about it. L.A. underground dance maestro SNBRN, whom we had the pleasure of premiering through his viral Morgan Page, “In The Air” remix, returns to TMN with another first play; this time brandishing a collaborative revision of Ace Of Base’s classic hit “All She Wants.” SNBRN who partners with Klatch this time around, weaves a deep and summery chord progression around a sultry classic house bassline and New York Garage shuffling hi-hats, resulting in an utterly unique and irresistibly dancey remix. About their musical fraternization, the young beat slanger said: “Came together with my close friend Klatch to remix a childhood favorite of ours “All She Wants.” We wanted to breathe new life into this classic but still keep the soul of the original. Enjoy our deep and sexy remix and stay burnt.”  With SNBRN & Klatch’s remix being offered as a free download again, we think there will be no problem staying burnt in the slightest. Try keeping this one out of your head today.

[Nu-Disco] Carousel – My New Friend (Avenue Remix)

Carousel
My New Friend (Avenue Remix)

One of our favorite synthy pop tunes of 2014, Carousel’s “My New Friend” received a welcome and worthy makeover from 19 year-old Toronto based dance producer Avenue, and we still haven’t managed to shake those clubby rhythms from our consciousness since we gave it a first spin. It’s always inspiring to hear a tune from an act you love undergo a transformation through the lens of another artist’s perspective; especially when the result is as warm and bubbly as this. Avenue shifts cadence from the original towards a more club-friendly stride with a strong focus on an expanse of  uplifting airy synths to surely pull a bit of hip-wiggle and an insuppressible grin from its listener. This one’s being gifted as a free download, so nab a copy here, listen above and be on the prowl for more Avenue material in the near future.

[House/Nu-Disco] The Magician – Sunlight feat. Years & Years

The Magician (Official)
The Magician : "Sunlight" feat. Years & Years (Original)

If you find yourself in need of a mood-shifting auditory pick me up today, look no further. Long known for his excellent output of tastemaking mixtapes, the Magic Tape series, and slate of impressive remixes; The Magician dropped this lovely little original tune on us in collaboration with electro-soul-pop trio Years & Years, “Sunlight” to indulge in this this morning and we’ve been all smiles since our first aural consumption. “Sunlight” lumbers out of the gate wielding a four-four muted kick-drum and garage leaning shuffled hi-hats before a deep swell of hazy pad work climbs through the backdoor, becoming a welcome initial focal point. Just as The Magician sculpts the tune’s first groove though, a light and absolutely in-sync vocal from Years & Years blends consummately amongst a sonically textured bass line and precise percussive stabs to take its place as the track’s lead. By the time its second verse is fully in swing, we were already so lost in an abundance of our own gyrating hips and flowey dance moves that we almost forgot we needed to somehow do this one justice in the form of clever adjectives and snarky commentary. If deep-house, nu-disco, pop/club-house, indie-dance or any combination of these dance genres populate your listening history then we think you, lovely reader, should experience this stream of listening consciousness as well. Like, right now.

[Deep-House] Morgan Page – In The Air (SNBRN Remix) [TMN PREMIERE]

Morgan Page
In The Air (SNBRN Remix)

Some musicians carry with them a coveted ability to breathe new life into songs with which the general slate of listeners thought had long run its course. This morning we have the felicitous opportunity to feature an artist whom carries such a skill and is making a TMN debut in the form of a premiere; Los Angeles house and disco distributor, SNBRN. With only a pair of official releases to the SNBRN moniker on his Soundcloud, both originals, this time around SNBRN has taken Morgan Page’s “In The Air” and distinctly lacquered on his sunny-addictive club sound. SNBRN weaves compositional Indie-Dance and Nu-Disko elements with a slick deep-house groove and bass line, resulting in an even more emotive version of the tune; which we sure as heck didn’t think was possible. Furthermore, Angela Mcluskey’s unforgettable vocal stems coalesce superbly within such an uplifting, groovy sea of sounds. About the track SNBRN had this to say: “I’m kicking off the summer with a pool friendly remix of Morgan Page’s classic, ‘In The Air’. Enjoy this free remix on the beach, in your cubical, or wherever you may be.” We surely will, and for those ready to add this to your personal libraries, grab the free download here.

[Deep-House/Indie-Dance] Lana Del Rey – Summertime Sadness (Vanilla Ace & Pyrros Bootleg)

Summertime Sadness (Vanilla Ace & Pyrros Bootleg)- Vanilla Ace vs Lana Del Rey
FREE DOWNLOAD

It’s Friday, which for a few of us Ninjas means our mind is on one thing: dancing. What better way to kick off our favorite day of the week than with one of our long kept house secrets, London’s Vanilla Ace. This little edit; which came to fruition in collaboration with Pyrros, takes Vanilla Ace’s “Don’t Go” and slathers it with Lana Del Rey’s candy-sweet incantations from her anthemic “Summertime Sadness”.  Pyrros and Vanilla Ace’s bootleg actually popped up on our Soundcloud a few days ago, but we felt a need to share heading into a musically packed weekend to get our hips gyrating in advance. Perhaps one of the most consistent house producers at the moment with what seems like at least one release per week on some of this writer’s favorite labels including Andre Crom’s Off Recordings, Sharam Jey’s Bunny Tiger, Rob Made’s Sleazy G/Sleazy Deep imprint and more that span underground dance genres from Deep and G-House/Funk to Indie-Dance and Nu-Disko; Vanilla Ace’s output wields a consistency and polish which new producers should be utterly envious of. It’s rare we’re able to feature a free download from Mr. Ace, so we were thrilled when we learned he’d be giving this one away in exchange for a quick Facebook “Like”. Snag a copy here, and we’ll see all of you out on the floor soon!
