SMASHA – TightRope [TMN Premiere]

SMASHA
TightRope

Quality Goods Records is known for pushing the envelope. Like, actually pushing it, not just saying they are. Part of their mission to expand the borders of bass music and give rise to upcoming talent consists of their compilations. Two have come through and now they’re on their third, set to be released on February 16th. A day ahead of release we’ve got an exclusive stream for you of SMASHA‘s single on the project called “TightRope.”

The DC producer went in on this one. Upon first listening there was no way we could pass on premiering this one in the dojo. “TightRope” is a hybrid heater whose rhythms are going to melt your brain and have it leaking out of your head onto the floor. It’s so clean and yet so dirty. SMASHA’s got something special on his hands here and we hope to hear more from him soon! Enjoy the exclusive stream and make sure to pre-save the compilation on Spotify!

UZ & Two Fresh – Stockholm White ft. Elliphant (Perk Pietrek Remix) [TMN Premiere]

UZ & Two Fresh
Stockholm White ft. Elliphant (Perk Pietrek Remix)

Today UZ is dropping a major remix project for his LP Layers. There’s a whole host of remixes, but here in the dojo we’re happy to premiere a trap driven take on “Stockholm White” by Perk Pietrek.

The Singapore songster took UZ’s collaboration with Two Fresh and Elliphant to a whole new level. His industrial sounding flip is just the dirty take the song needed. It feels reminiscent of the original, but Perk keeps those undertones light and put his own spin on things. With the Perk Pietrek stamp, “Stockholm White” will continue to ravage crowds in its new form. Enjoy the exclusive premiere here and make sure to check out the full project on digital formats.

Expand

Let’s end the week nicely with a dirty premiere shall we? Enter sfam and the new single “Expand” from the producer’s EP of the same name. The duo’s project has dropped through Quality Goods Records today and we’ve got the premiere for you. Ready for an exclusive first listen?

“Expand” showcases sfam’s heightened rhythmic senses. Different sounds play with each other in a way that’s unusual if you were to collect a handful of bass records together. That unique style is part of what makes this single stand out. Superb sound design and a seasoned display of minimalism go a long way to making this song what it is. We’re proud to present something so interesting to you to end the week and we hope you check out the entire EP – maybe you’ll even expand your digital library with a copy of it. We did!

PS, pun very intended.

[Trap] UZ – Layers LP

Two insane things just happened last Friday. One, UZ dropped an album. Two, UZ revealed his identity. No it’s not Skrillex or Diplo, or anyone else you might have thought, unless you thought it was the 2x world champion DJ TROUBL.

Now that you know the trap lord UZ is the French DJ champion, we can move on to his LP Layers that dropped on his label Quality Goods Records. This project is major, running twelve songs deep with collaborators including Two Fresh, Elliphant, Axel Boy, Oski, Craze, QUIX and so many more. This collection is some of the best work by UZ, a guy who has been putting out music for years now. Some trap guys can’t seem to keep things fresh as time passes, but UZ really took it to the next level. Before you check out the LP, read through why UZ decided to reveal himself below.

“The anonymity was fun when I started it 5 years ago, but now I feel like there’s too many masked artists and it really has become more of a gimmick than a message. Our motto at the time was to let the music speak by itself and not focus on the artist. It’s still true, but now that I’m a curator and I’m working full-time on my label Quality Goods Records, I need to make myself heard, talk to people face to face, etc.… Also people need to know where I’ve come from and where I’m going – right here, right now. It’s just the beginning of a whole new journey for me and I’m really excited about it.”

sumthin sumthin – Hollow [TMN Premiere]

Sumthin Sumthin
Hollow

If you’re ready for something extra hot, you’ve came to the right place. Today in the dojo we present to you a first listen to sumthin sumthin‘s new single “Hollow” from the Afterglow EP. The Los Angeles producer partnered up with Quality Goods Records for the EP, but Music Ninja for the premiere. Get ready, this one is steamin’ right out of the oven.

“Hollow” is beyond fantastic. It comes out of left-field with enough swagger to melt the entire bass scene in an instant. With so many producers trying to be like other producers, it’s extremely refreshing to hear someone doing something different – and even a bit weird in the best way possible. sumthin sumthin has a catalog that is impressive, yet small, but he’s growing it in a big way with this EP and specifically with “Hollow.” Enjoy the single early, as the full EP isn’t out until the 28th; however you can get your copy through digital services.
