[Hip-Hop] Leather Corduroys – Mexican Coke

Leather Corduroys
Mexican Coke (prod. Knox Fortune)

Chicago’s Leather Corduroyscomprised of Kami de Chukwu and Joey Purp, are back at it.  The hip-hop duo’s most recent project, Porno Music Vol. IIwas one of our favorites this year and they’ve certainly hit the ground running with their latest offering. On “Mexican Coke,” both emcees spit some casually boastful lines about their extensive travels over playful production courtesy Knox Fortune. As much of the music that comes from their SaveMoney collective, this one’s a bouncy listen that could work equally well in a casual or party setting. Check it above.

[Hip-Hop] Leather Corduroys – Porno Music Volume II: TSFR (EP)

Porno Music Volume II: TSFR

Leather Corduroys,  consisting of Chitown’s own Kami de Chukwu and Joey Purp, dropped off a brand new EP a couple nights ago and it continue to show why their SaveMoney collective is here to stay. Porno Music Volume II: TSFR, which has no predecessor despite its strange sequel-implying title, is an eclectic and often refreshingly strange mix of music reflective of the state of Midwestern hip-hop.

With production and lyrical content that progressively ranges from lo-fi to full-on trap, the EP is full of creative energy and expression. An especially dope track, “Nightmare on Chicago Ave,” comes on around the 6-minute mark, when the two emcees drop all playfulness and demonstrate that they can hold their own next to any rapper out there.

It is evident through the cohesiveness of the EP that these artists took the time to think about their project as a whole, making it a start-to-finish must listen. Enjoy this one above and look for more heat from SaveMoney this summer.

[Video] Vic Mensa – Magic (Smoko Ono Remix)

Do you believe in “Magic?” If you’re a skeptic, then it might be time to hop in a time machine with Vic Mensa and Smoko Ono as they take a psychedelic trip back to the early 90’s in the visuals for this Chicago house inspired remix. Cutting out the verses completely from the Innanetape original, we’re instead left with a revitalized tune that’s dripping with entrancing melodies and infectious rhythms. Old school vibes are abound as well, as flush bright neons bombard the screen throughout the trippy visuals. Let the nostalgia take over as you peep the video below, and stay tuned for Smoko’s upcoming Slackin-N-Mackin EP, set to release later this year.
