[Pop/Electronic] Jarina De Marco – Tigre

Jarina De Marco
Tigre (Broad City Soundtrack Exclusive)

The web-to-TV series Broad City is known for many things, one being its soundtrack. The collection of tracks have been curated by Matt FX, who also is credited as an executive producer of the soundtrack. Although the soundtrack is set for release on October 28th, Milan Records in conjunction with Comedy Central Records has pushed one of the singles out for stream already. That single is Jarina De Marco‘s “Tigre.”

“Tigre” is a vibrant record that takes influence from pop, Latin America and dancehall. It’s a memorable single, which is why it shouldn’t be a surprise that it got picked up by a television show. Fans of Major Lazer and Die Antwoord will especially love this record, as it has a few elements that are reminiscent of these acts. Jarina De Marco shines in “Tigre,” which is appealing to listeners who usually don’t find themselves latching onto these style records. There’s just something special about “Tigre” that we can’t put our finger on. Have a listen, maybe you will find it! “Tigre” is only available to stream, but will be purchasable along with the soundtrack on digital stores at the end of October. If you want the vinyl, you can grab it exclusively through Urban Outfitters.

[NEW] Lorde – Flicker (Kanye West Rework)

Lorde
Flicker (Kanye West Rework)

With the help of Lorde‘s curation, the soundtrack for the latest installment of The Hunger Games is shaping up to be quite a compilation featuring a diverse selection of artists including CHVRCHES, Raury, Major Lazer and HAIM among others. The latest release from the soundtrack brings together two of music’s most dynamic superstars as Kanye West puts his spin on one of Lorde’s contributions to the album, “Yellow Flicker Beat.” As always, ‘Ye stuns creating an ominously spectacular progression accentuating the original’s powerful vocals.

This one bodes well for the upcoming Kanye West album that we’ve been hearing rumors about recently. While the overarching sound of his most recent album, Yeezus, is certainly evoked, West continues to march forward sonically incorporating his more experimental projects in perfect doses as he grows artistically. In some ways, his current position parallels the 808s & Heartbreak days in the sense that he’s finding ways to reinvent himself, absorb what works and incorporate it as a creative tool moving forward.

Enjoy the re-work, appropriately called “Flicker,” above. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Pt. 1 is in theaters November 21st and its soundtrack, which can be pre-ordered here, is out on November 17th.

They Die By Dawn

Although I was completely unaware of the upcoming movie They Die By Dawn before this morning, the title track from the soundtrack has certainly piqued my interest. The fittingly theatrical cut features two highly regarded, yet elusive, emcees in Yasiin Bey (formerly known as Mos Def) and Jay Electronica who help create a vivid musical trailer over a steadily building western-influenced instrumental. They Die By Dawn is set to be released later this year and its cast will include Michael K Williams and Erykah Badu among several other notable names. In the meantime, hop on your horse, grab your musket and turn the volume up.

[Hip-Hop] Rick Ross – 100 Black Coffins

Lending his voice to the upcoming Quentin Tarantino film, Django Unchained, the MMG emcee Rick Ross drops some new heat titled “100 Black Coffins” off the soundtrack. The Jamie Foxx produced single is a Rozay narrated track describing the dark tale of the western movie about the slave turned bounty hunter. With a strong western vibe and strong verses from the Maybach lyricist, this is a dope release and a side from the always flossin’ rapper. Be sure to check it below and hear more from John Legend, Anthony Hamilton, and collaborations from the late James Brown and Tupac Shakur on the Django Unchained soundtrack dropping 12/18.

NipTuck-soundtrack

I feel like nip/tuck is just getting darker and more depressing to watch. Might stop watching it.. however, One of the song in Season 6 Episode 07 “Alexis Stone II” was the popular “Goodbye Horses by Q Lazzarus, a one hit wonder from this American female singer. Originally released in 1988!

While I do not watch the show Brothers and Sisters, I can’t pass the opportunity to post Whooping Crane written by Eric Taylor but performed by American singer-songwriter Lyle Pearce Lovett. A country/folk song that sounds a tad depressing but its overall soothing.

House M.D. Yes Wilson is probably the one character that whines the most but he always provides comedic relief every time he interchanges words with good ol’ stubborned House. Season 6 episode 10 was all about “Wilson” as they finally explored the other layers of this secondary character.

A.A. Bondy is actually the birth name (the initials stand for Auguste Arthur) of Scott Bondy. After breaking up with a band he used to be in 2003, Bondy retreated to his Catskills home in Palenville in upstate New York and in time began writing songs again, emerging with a stripped-down indie folk sound.

Bondy’s latest album ‘When The Devil’s Loose’ is available in the US and (most) European countries since september 1st, 2009

Do I care much for Gossip Girls? Nope, not at all. Have I even given it a try? Not a chance. Should fans of both this site and Gossip Girls suffer because of my prejudice against this series? Not if they post amazing music! And Gossip Girls music soundtrack has delivered yet again.

HOUSE MD SEASON 6 PREMIERE SOUNDTRACK

house-season-6-soundtrack-music-songs

Simply Amazing. The season premiere of House M.D. started out delightfully simple as the first song from the first episode was nothing short than the beautiful No Surprises by Radiohead. The 2 hour special was packed with humor, drama, love, sadness, and the typical psychoanalysis that House has provided us in past seasons. If the next episodes can come close to how enjoyable the first 2 episodes of season 6 was to watch, this would clearly be the best season thus far. We’ll just have to wait and see.
