Seattle’s own Thaddeus David released his debut solo LP early last week once again showcasing the Northwest’s budding hip-hop scene. On Trapital Trill, David draws in features and production from fellow up ‘n comers Nacho Picasso, Avatar Young Blaze, DJ Semaj and Keyboard Kid to give us an original and encompassing look at the region’s sound. While the feel is undeniably west coast, this project helps distinguish and define Seattle’s emerging scene.

The Northwest hip-hop scene has truly blossomed in the last few years, giving us some of the most talented young emcees west of the Mississippi. Seattle’s Thaddeus David, of the emerging State of the Artist and The Moor Gang rap collectives, is a prime example of the growing niche. Last week, the talented up ‘n comer dropped the second single off his upcoming solo LP.

On “NASA,” David goes in over the chill and laid-back production of DJ Semaj & 1stBorn creating an anthem of sorts with a motivational chorus fitting for the recent appearance of the Endeavour space shuttle in the west coast skies.
