VOLAC Talks New Track and Japanese Drift Cars [TMN Interview]

Volac
Wait A Minute ft. Peazy 616

This Russian producer and DJ power duo has been making waves with releases on Tchami’s label Confession, AC Slater’s Night Bass and have joined forces with LA-based DJ/producer DESTRUCTO to create a G-house infused anthem “What I Got” which received over 1 millions streams on Soundcloud. Now VOLAC brings us a brand new track released on Night Bass and a tour announcement.

“Wait a Minute,” the duo’s recent track, continues to incorporate their G-house and hip-hop infusion to bring us another dark clubby hit that features the vocals of Peazy 616 and keeps us falling more in love with their over all production style. We got the chance to ask them about their No Love tour which kicked off in the US August 3rd in Santa Barbara, the new track, their thoughts on the Holy Ship debacle and more. Make sure to check out the track and click here for a list of tour stops and tickets.

TMN: How did VOLAC come to fruition?
VOLAC: We’ve been friends since childhood and both started listening to and loving electronic music early, so we tried making tracks together. When we were very young, we were creating a very different kind of dance music from what we produce now. After two years, we started to prefer deep house. Then, we continued on to do some G-house and bass house music. Volac was born very simply! One day we were making a track with a lot of vocals, and when we were saving it, we used the wrong two letters—“L” and “C.” We saved a track with the title “Volac” and loved the name!

TMN: Any previous background in music?
V: Volac is our first project as a duo. In the beginning we tried to making more EDM type music… but this wasn’t for us. We’ve been growing step by step though 😉 Started from the bottom hahaha

TMN: You have had some releases on same amazing labels such as Confessions, Destructo’s Hits Hard, and Night Bass – How does it feel to be recognized buy such strong producers?
V: To get respect from great labels and high profile producers is always really cool. We definitely feel a responsibility to create really solid tracks for each release on these taste making labels, and love putting together our best tracks for these releases.

TMN: You have a tour kicking off this weekend – what are some of the stops you’re most excited for? What are the feelings you like to induce on the crowd with your music during shows?
V: We are super excited for each show, but we’re probably the most excited for HARD fest, and Elements festival coming up this weekend. When we play we love moving the crowd with bass heavy tracks – we mostly enjoy playing our own music.

TMN: Any opinion on the news of Live Nation trying to push out Destructo
from Holy Ship?
V: We know that Holy Ship is one of the best boat parties in the world and that Destructo is great promoter and we don’t know exactly why this is happening. We hope that everything with his career will be cool and look forward to playing some of his parties in the future and continuing to collaborate with him!

TMN: I really dig the new track, the incorporation of the hip-hop vibe really stands out compared to other tracks- how’d this track come about?
V: We always try to combine house and hip-hop styled music. This is something we’ve been doing for some time now, and we love combining these two elements. “Wait A Minute” started with an awesome vocal from Peazy 616 and we built a super heavy beat around it – we’re really happy with how it came out.

TMN: In such a now saturated market what’s your advice to producers on making music that stands out in general?
V: Everyone should focus on crafting their own unique style. Copying anyone else just leads to more of the same music; you really need to work on creating something special and new. Spend as much time in the studio as you can!

TMN: Anything special on the horizon other than the tour and new track releases?
V: We have a bunch of awesome VOLACAST guest coming up and the videos are getting even crazier & funnier. Other than music, we’re thinking about buying an old Japanese drift car lol – we’ve wanted to
get one of those for so long haha.

WRLD x smle
Stranded (feat. Kiddo AI)

In honor of their new tour together, WRLD and smle have put out a single alongside Kiddo AI through Heroic Recordings. “Stranded” is what the song and tour have been named. Both are not things to miss out on, so whether you’re looking to download the track for free or purchase tour tickets, both can be done while you stream the tune in the dojo.

We would be very surprised if you went to a show on the tour and didn’t hear the song the tour was named after. Regardless of their shared name, a song this could should not be skipped by either of the acts on tour. It’s good enough that if both played it, fans wouldn’t care. “Stranded” has that poppy, euphoric future sound categorized by a catchy vocal and riveting synth work. Each act’s styles fit well together and Kidd AI’s vocal performance takes this song to special heights. Like we said before, it’s available for free and make sure to check out the tour dates for stops in your area.

Party Thieves Talks Max Capacity Tour [TMN Interview]

PARTY THĮEVES
100K #THEFTARMY MIX

What better way to show fan love than a four stop mini tour in 300 capacity venues all for free? One of our favorite heavy hitting trap producers is doing just that for fans across the country. Party Thieves recently took to social media to get a feel for what his #theftarmy thought of the idea and, naturally, the dedicated fans and his team helped bring this generous offer to fruition.

Kicking off at New Orlean’s Republic in February with a stop at popular venue, Heart in Miami, a 3rd stop (not yet revealed) and ending at Fulton 55 in Fresno, Party Thieves is stealing the party from larger capacity venues to bring an intimate experience. Free of charge. For his biggest fans. Wait for it…no strings attached. We got the opportunity to speak to the man himself about the Max Capacity Tour below. Join the army by clicking this registration link.

TMN: Was there any pushback from your team when you decided to do these intimate shows considering they’re free?

Party Thieves: Funny you ask this first. My manager at first did not think we would have enough time to do this as well as finish getting my first big headline world tour done. My team is all about giving back to the fans so the free concept was something they were in favor of.

TMN: Why do you think it’s important to give fans this kind of experience?

PT: Music is a very powerful thing. To be able to make the type of music I love and have fans that vibe with it is amazing. I want to be able to share that feeling I get when I play, whether in front of 300 people or 15000 people. They have been with me from the start so I want them to feel that same energy and this is a way I can do that.

TMN: What would you consider some of the pros and cons of larger events that require tickets?

PT: There are no cons here. Cons only will come from the actions of the people at the shows. Pros are more people to share your music with.

TMN: A lot of the larger shows, when they sell out, end up with outrageously scalped tickets, what are your thoughts on scalpers?

I want people buying tickets to my shows that want to be there. That goes for other artists as well. Don’t buy a ticket if you don’t plan on coming.

TMN: How did you choose which cities?

PT: I was very vocal on social media prior to really deciding what cities we chose. I had a lot of people email, DM, or directly call my team wanting to be part of this tour. A lot of promoters really appreciated the fact I want to make something more intimate and personal with my fans. One city that I definitely kept a look out for was Fresno. I was supposed to play Trap Fest late 2015 but had transit issues that kept me. So I wanted to keep my word and give back. We still have yet to announce the 4th show so have one more city to go!

TMN: What can attendees expect besides a smaller crowd and it being free?

PT: These shows will be like if a Meet & Greet met an actual show and lasted for the length of a set. I think that should paint a good picture for everyone.

TMN: Could you see yourself doing this multiple times a year or in twice as many cities?

PT: I don’t think I can give an answer on how many times per year but this is definitely something I’d like to have grow into more cities. I will keep doing it until every fan has that chance to attend.

TMN: When was the last time you played a show this small, but unintentionally, and can you describe the experience/memory?

PT: Oh man, I don’t remember the city but might have been like a year and a half ago I had a last minute venue change. I don’t think the promoter got the memo out and there were like 50 people. I still put on a wild set so those 50 left happy haha.

[House] Viceroy – Next Escape feat. Patrick Baker

VICEROY
Next Escape ft. Patrick Baker

It doesn’t matter what time of the year it is for Viceroy, because his attitude is that it’s Summer time all the time. Right now, the weather is indeed warming up as we move towards Summer and Viceroy has planned something big. Leading up into most everyone’s favorite season, the San Francisco producer will be on the road for his Next Escape tour. Aside from that, he’s dishing out a new EP, and today we share with you a single from it.

“Next Escape” is the title track off of Viceroy’s upcoming EP, and as you just read, it is the name of his May to June tour. This original single features Patrick Baker on vocals whose poppy sound really jives with Viceroy’s tropical sensibilities. He doesn’t go all Thomas Jack on us, as he has his own identity and sound that is a bit more accessible to a varied audience. The use of acoustic elements packed into a house production is one thing that really gives “Next Escape” a unique sound. If Viceroy was looking to make 3 and a half minutes of sonic bliss, he certainly succeeded. Stream his single, prepare for the EP, and make sure to check out his upcoming tour dates in case he’s coming to a venue near you.

CID Signs To Big Beat & Releases New Single, “Love Is Blind” [TMN Premiere]

CID
Love Is Blind (Radio Edit)

The New York Grammy winning producer CID, who has been on tour with Kaskade, recently signed to Big Beat/Atlantic Records. As if that Music Ninja exclusive announcement wasn’t enough, he brings an original single along with it called “Love Is Blind.” This bubbly deep house record is a collaboration with Glenna that just released today.

“Love Is Blind” starts off with the monumental vocal that spearheads the introduction. Subtle percussion and a synth background build up into a climactic release into the groovy drop. He uses a wubby stab synth as the main melodic phrase, but he fills out the rest of the spectrum with various sounds, including bringing the vocal back for dancers to sing along to. Both clubs and festivals are going to be rocked by “Love Is Blind,” which is one of our favorite CID tracks to date. Press play, and expect some more big releases from him soon on Big Beat! If you would like to add the song to your Spotify, then you can do so below.

[Future] Vanic X Major Lazer X Wild Belle – Be Together 2.0

Vanic X Major Lazer X WildBelle
Be Together

Everyone has those artists; the ones in which the second you receive word of a new release, are on top of it like white on rice. Of course, not everyone shares this strong adoration for the same artists, but in few cases, there are exceptions. These exceptions are those artists who put out music that, no matter what your musical taste buds fancy, is ubiquitously appealing.

Vanic has created exactly that reputation for himself. From “Circles” to “Borderline,” his music is undisputedly fantastic. So naturally, when we got wind of his latest project, “Be Together 2.0,” a rendition of Major Lazer and Wild Belle’s original “Be Together,” we were brimming with excitement. In this case though, “excitement” doesn’t quite cut it.

As many of you know, Vanic has a signature way of remixing music, and when we say “remixing,” we really mean entirely reconstructing a song with self-produced synths and the insertion of a brand new, self-written melody. With that said, “Be Together 2.0” is a breathtaking synthesis of passion, beauty, and vitality. It grabs your emotions with an inescapable hold, and once its musical grasp releases you, you are left feeling as if the wind was knocked out of you.

In case this release wasn’t already enough to get your blood pumping, though pretty doubtful, maybe the news of his upcoming tour will. Come July 16th, Vanic will be making his U.S. debut in Sacramento, and following this with shows in locations such as Denver, Chicago, New York, and Los Angeles, just to name a few. Before you all go and start typing the words “Vanic tour,” into the search bar, make it a little easier for yourselves and click on this direct link. Go ahead, grab your tickets, and amp yourselves up with the latest tune.
