This week’s show was mostly a mish-mash of various Soundcloud/Bandcamp finds across genres plus a few favorite cuts from TDE’s Black Panther OST. A few other projects highlighted in this episode include stellar new EPs from Ravyn Lenae, Mija & Geotheory alongside Keinemusik‘s eclectic self-titled album. Closing out the show was a selection of left-field house cuts ranging from funky to hazy lo-fi to ethereal electro.

“Love Gang” by Whethan and Charli XCX got a major remix treatment from one of our favorites, Candyland, and the Swedish Filip. Released as a free download, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t be all over this track.

Smooth, suave and oh so sweet, this remix is all magic. We already know what Candyland can do on her own and every collab she’s released is pure fire, this one definitely included. With Filip the result is the perfect Summer flip of a hit that was made for festival season. The vocal chops are the definite highlight, but everything they brought to the table is impressive. Today we’re bringing you a remix that instantly caught our attention for Whethan vs Oliver Tree’s “When I’m Down.” Austin, Texas duo Bronze Whale made up of Aaron Jaques and Benny Alley have been breaking into the music scene since 2011 and giving themselves a great name between original releases and other remixes.

This bouncy, pop edit takes this piano heavy chilled out track and leaves plenty of room for dancing. The added edginess to the layers in production give us a true sense of what these two are all about and keeps us bobbing our heads. Sometimes Tuesday’s can be just as bad as Monday’s but this release is a 10/10 mood booster and has us ready to rock into the weekend. Whethan and Oliver Tree may have only put out two songs together so far, but they already are demonstrating a calculated approach to crafting insanely catchy pop music. “When I’m Down” marked a deviation from Whethan’s usual sound, and the inclusion of Oliver Tree is what really brought the entire song over the top. Their newest effort pulls back the reins on Tree’s vocals as he focuses more on a co-production role, and “All You Ever Talk About” leans more toward a full-bodied electronic tune than a pop record as a result.

Their distinct collaborative sound still shines through, so it goes without saying that this is yet another earworm from the intriguing duo. We’ve got another free download on our hands, so be sure to grab that and support these guys in any method you can. You’ll be hearing more from them in the future without a doubt.
