Random Music Goodness is Back!

Can you explain the picture above? We sure cant… and neither can we explain why all these songs are grouped into one post.

May the randomness continue! Here at The Music Ninja we are all about variety, bringing music from all types of genres. I was originally going to name it Random Music Fridays but I missed it by a couple of hours 🙁 Will definitely try to make huge posts like these with random songs every week for those of you that are not confined to a specific taste in music!

“Australia” is a song by American indie rock band The Shins, and is the second track on their third album Wincing The Night Away. The song was released as the second single from that album in the United Kingdom on April 9, 2007.

Did not know this band until I heard them today and was blown away by it. They are an instrumental post-rock band from Sheffield, England. Radio Protector was the only track from One Time For All Time issued as a single released on 7th of February 2006

Like most of the songs here, I picked the first couple of songs that were shuffled in my iPod and I am glad Imogen Heap’s Hide and Seek decided to show its face. Although most of her songs are synthesized, the raw emotion put into the vocals really make her one of the best Electronica Artist in the world.

Irish singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Lisa Hannigan emits “a moan of delicate strength, and stirring warmth and humanity” on this playful song from her album Sea Sew.

The “trumpet” sound on this song really reminds me of the late 90’s when trance was emerging in Venezuela. A very appealing old school style that is still prominent even it todays trance songs.

[New Release]Kings of Convenience – Declaration of Dependance [Album Preview]

kings-of-convenience
As Indie Shuffle describes it, “brilliant acoustic folk songs with just a touch of tropical whimsical” the talented Norwegian acoustic duo Kings of Convenience have released their new album “Declaration of Dependance” released today 10/20.

A playful acoustic album with delightful melodies and the brilliant vocals of Erlend Øye and Eirik Glambek Bøe. The album starts out with a somber and hopeful begining with the track 25-25 then switches to a much cheerful mood with Mrs. Cold. The album ends with slow folky songs like Second To Numb and Scars On Land.

[Chillax] Soft, Minimalistic and Amazing: The Xx

the-xx-the-band-music
Not sure why it took me so long to write about The Xx. If you follow other music blogs or music aggregators like hypem, elbows, or mog, it would have been impossible for you to miss them. They took the internet by storm with their soft mellow songs that were melodically rich and incredibly fresh music style.

The Xx minimalist approach to their music is the perfect example that less is most often better. They band from south west London, England released their album XX on 17 August 2009. Some polls made by music bloggers suggest that this album might be the best of 2009. Whether you agree or not, this album is a must when all you want to do is relax to good music.

[Alternative-Rock] The Deer Republic

DeerRepublic__01a
I always try to keep the genres balanced but its a shame that I have not been able to post about many indie Alternative-Rock bands on here. Everytime I post remixes on the site, a lot more people send me more remixes and the ratio of remixes to rock bands gets a little skewed. Furtonately, Mike from the Sydney-based band The Deer Republic was kind enough to send us their new single “Need To Know”. Their slightly distorted rich guitars melodies synergizing with the vocals of Mike Andrijic remind me of some of the newer songs from Incubus and The Foo Fighters.

The Deer Republic (Mike Andrijic: Vocals/Guitar, Chris Collins: Guitar, Mo Bloomfield: Bass, Nick Andrijic: Drums) will definetely be one of the new indie bands we will keep an eye on. A promising future can be expected if their upcoming songs can resonate the same way “Need To Know” graciously does.

[New Release][Video] Dead Man's Bones – Dead Hearts

Weirdly creative and subtly creepy is how I can describe the music video for Dead Man’s Bones’ song titled Dead hearts. There is a good chance you have already heard them, just not as indie musicians. Dead Man’s Bones consist of actors Ryan Gosling (The Notebook) and Zach Shields. Originally intended to be a horror-themed musical, Zach and Ryan turned into the very dark but strangely intriguing self titled album “Dead Man’s Bones” released today October 6th. A lot of actors turned musicians fade away rather quickly as most are in it for the wrong reasons. Fortunately for us, Ryan and Zach do not seem to be after fame and fortune but rather after producing dark, melodically rich songs that tremble the soul and here at The Music Ninja we are glad its the latter.
