[Bass] SubDocta – Skeleton Key

SubDocta
Skeleton Key

Happy Monday Ninjas! The weekend has come and gone, but that won’t stop us from supplying music that’ll get you pumped and energized, especially when four more days of work lie ahead. So, to kick off the work week, we’ve got a nice little bass number to share from Buygore signee SubDocta that’ll undoubtedly get your blood flowing. The Arizona native’s latest release, “Skeleton Key,” is a powerful assimilation of vibrating wobbles and divergent rhythms. Dark melodies characterized by metallic synths seamlessly intertwine with ground-shaking basslines, giving way to a delightfully eerie product that we can’t help but find irresistible.

[Electronic] cozmoe – Brand New Day

cozmoe
Brand New Day

When you come across an artist’s debut and their first release stands out, it’s a great sign to say the least.  Cozmoe is a new electronic project and I’m really connecting with his new, very first song, Brand New Day. The single has a fat driving bass, balanced with a warm analogue buzz. It keeps everything locked into a fast pace. As you listen you’ll find the song gives off a manic energy but at the same time you’ll catch your mind wandering off into the clouds. Without a doubt this is thanks to the production style along with a washed-out mix that’s frankly quite impressive. This paradox where dreamy-chill meets crazed-lunacy is rare to come by in any type of music, so when I find something like this I savor every second. Take a listen and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

[Indie Folk] Galapaghost – Pulse

Galapaghost
Pulse

Meeting somewhere in-between alternative and folk rock, Galapaghost’s, “Pulse” is a moving listen. The plucked chord progression is slowly layered with minimal sounds building into an impressive final verse. Subtle guitar work in the background, acoustic and electric, adds a lot to keep things interesting. Not to mention how the lyrics cut through with a raw, heart wrenching vocal melody. The rhythm stays mostly low key but the songwriting holds things up without a problem. Discover a new artist and I think indie rock fans will really dig “Pulse.”

[Alternative] Mt. Joy – Silver Lining

Mt. Joy
Silver Lining

Mt. Joy is the sort of band that makes music you can ride out into the proverbial sunset to. After a series of stellar singles, “Silver Lining” continues the band’s unflinching devotion to delving into complex topics, which is immediately felt in their blunt and to-the-point lyrics that seamlessly pair with their folksy instrumentation. While “Sheep” proved that Mt. Joy isn’t here to simply hit the stage and spout overused platitudes, “Silver Lining” finds the band exhibiting a more contemplative stance that reflects on finding lasting joy throughout a haze of vices. Even with this shift in tone from their previous single, Mt. Joy’s ability to craft instantly catchy choruses carries over to this newest tune as well, and they’ve got yet another winner on their hands. If “Silver Lining” is the standard set for a potential Mt. Joy album, we’re all in for quite a treat.
