[Fresh New Mash-ups/Remixes] Eminem

unreleased-old-school-eminem

I was a big fan of Eminem when he first came out. The Slim Shady LP and The Marshall Mathers LP were certainly favorites but as time went by I just stopped listening to his music. After 2006 it all just sounded the same to me. Granted, I have not had the chance to fully review Relapse and Relapse 2 myself (actually getting good reviews). I thought it would be more deserving to post a couple of fresh mash-ups/remixes and work his been featured in.

[Hip/Hop] November 2009 Random Playlist Part. I

random-hop-hop-november-2009

We call this playlist random because it has a little of everything. Hip/hop with pretty heavy electronic beats, Hip/hop with pop/funk and just simply fresh new tracks from Wale and Speech Debelle that we cant stop listening to.

Corynne Elliot, AKA Speech Debelle is a British rapper that has recently released the very sweet track Spinnin’. It is a positive and hopeful song full of soft melodies that go along well with her fast rapping flow.

From his debut album Attention Deficit that will be released November 10, 2009, Wale gets real about the life of celebrities in 90210. Everyday more and more hip/hop artist like Wale and Kid Cudi are embracing electronic elements into their songs creating a whole new hip/hop experience. We can’t wait to listen to Attention Deficit in its entirety but judging from the little that we have listen to, I think November will be Wale’s month.

Just a feel good awesome mash up from the guys over at The White Panda remixing Wyclef Jean and Alphabeat. They have been releasing a lot of great mash-ups lately (including Badd by Ying Yang Twins) and you can expect to see more of their mixes populating the interwebs.

White Panda – Sweetest Fascination

We might get tired of our own answer to this questions but so far it has not changed. How to make an electronic beat sound amazing? Simply sprinkling a little of Jay Z to it. (or at times Lil Wayne and Kid Cudi)

[HIP HOP HORRAY | EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW]: Thad Reid – The Voice of the Common Wealth

thadexclusivethemusicninja
Small rant:
I have to be honest here; I tend to be harsher on filtering through Hip/Hop submission for The Music Ninja in part because most of the underground hip/hop music I receive does not come across very genuine. Hip/Hop is not all about how fast you rap, how good you can spit rhymes or who is producing your music. Hip hop is more of a cultural movement of self expression than just a form of music. This is why it saddens me when I receive a hip/hop submission from upcoming artists who are more focused on trying to be the next Lil’ Wayne and ignore the fact that this medium is not about who you can pretend to be but how well you can explain who you are to others.

And this is where Thad Reid comes in. Besides being a talented upcoming hip/hop artist from Virginia, he is simply put, himself, and his genuine flow makes his music all that more worthwhile. He describes himself as “exhibiting the deep style of Common, the clarity of Ludacris, with the passion and knowledge of Krs-One”. However just as TravGlav from WYDUBlog.com sees it, it is really the nice balance of soulful melodies and his own southern flavor that makes Thad Reid who he is”.

Thad Reid’s latest project “Paid Time Off” is a refreshing hip/hop EP showcasing his impressive flow and songwriting. Some of our favorite tracks were Payday as he capturing the GREAT feeling you get when you realize it is paday; The Reason: Thad’s confession for his love of hip/hop and Suffer Too a funkier track with an 80’s feel to it.

[Hip Hop] Lil Wayne Flyin' High With 'No Ceilings'

lil_wayne-

With his album Rebirth being delayed, Mr Carter took matters into his own hands and will be dropping a mixtape on Halloween (October 31th, 2009).

“I got tired of sitting back. Everybody was making mixtapes. And I could rap too. Once I found myself jumping in my car putting on the radio instead of CDs, that’s when I know I gotta go murder their beat,” – Wayne

AND FINALLY! it has reported that on this mixtape he wont be using any AUTO TUNE. Even though his a genius lyricist, I still have to give him much more respect for dropping the auto tune and going back to his natural vocals.

These tracks for lack of a better word of Sick!! Lil Wayne is able to spit culturally relevant metaphors faster than anyone. With so many people remixing/mashing up his songs, No Ceilings acts as a statement that no one else can remix his songs like Lil Wayne Himself.

[Hip Hop][Featuring Features] Drake, Santogold, Lil Wayne, Jay Z, Mr. Hudson

These 2 songs a more mainstreams than most of the music you guys see here but I’ve been listening to them a lot lately.

First it is a song by Drake on his album So Far Gone where he features Santogold and Lil Wayne, quite an unusual mash up but it mixes nicely. My only complaint is that Lil Wayne should lay off the auto tune for a little. I know that has become his style but we are about to go into 2010 now and I hope hip/hop artists start coming back to their natural ways.

[Soundtrack] Entourage Season 6 Finale Music (Episode 12 "Give A little bit")

entourage-season-6-episode-12-finale-soundtrack-music

Entourage has always been one of my favorite shows, not to mention, I always discover new music every episode that goes by. This one, however, has been slightly difficult to track down which songs were used in their season finale. In the final scenes of the episode, as E is about to get on the plane leaving Sloan behind, the song Lisztomania by Phoenix is playing in the background. The song right after that as the airplane is about to take off is actually a song by Jay Z remixed for the Street Is Watching called “In My Life Time”.

There are 2 more songs I am trying to figure out that hopefully I will be able to post it here. Stay Tuned!
