[Hip-Hop] Lil Wayne – Good Kush & Alcohol (Bitches Love Me)(Feat. Drake & Future)(Prod. Mike WiLL Made It)

As easy as it is for the three artists mentioned above to get on your nerves, you have to admit that they have an affinity for making some pretty catchy tunes. For his latest single, Weezy enlists both Drake and Future to share duties on the chorus, while he occupies the rest of the Mike WiLL produced backdrop with some trash talking and singing of his own. What else would you expect from a new Lil Wayne track? For those interested, you can find this one on Wayne’s upcoming album, I Am Not a Human Being II, expected in stores February 19th.

[Hip-Hop] Rick Ross – Hold Me Back (Remix) Feat. Gunplay, French Montana, Yo Gotti & Lil Wayne

Rick Ross does not hold back on the remix to his smash-hit, “Hold Me Back,” bringing out frequent collaborators Lil Wayne, French Montana, Gunplay and Yo Gotti. The timing of the release could not be more appropriate, as President Obama has just been re-elected as the leader of this great nation for four more years. One has to think that Rozay secretly handed him an advance copy just so he could use this as his anthem while popping champagne during tonight’s festivities (at least that’s how I’d like to think the president parties).

[LIST] Hip-Hop Cash Kings: The Richest Rappers

Forbes recently released a list of 2012’s hip-hop “Cash Kings,” ranking the rap world’s top earners. Snagging the #1 spot was Dr. Dre, who wrangled up a whopping $110 million — half of which can be attributed to his Beats by Dre headphone brand. The West Coast producer and emcee was joined by #2 Diddy (buoyed by his Ciroc vodka), #3 Jay-Z (his money raked in from number of places, like the Brooklyn Nets) and #4 Kanye (reaping much of the benefits from Watch The Throne). Eminem, who hasn’t exactly been a popular face for corporate endorsements and sponsorships, still placed at #9, bolstered by his music, selling more albums in the last 10 years than any artist. What are your thoughts, ninjas?

1. Dr. Dre – $110 million
2. Diddy – $45 million
3. Jay-Z – $38 million
4. Kanye West – $35 million
5. Lil Wayne – $27 million
6. Drake – $20.5 million

[Hip-Hop] Talib Kweli – Attack The Block (Mixtape)

Talib Kweli is one of the lyrical masters of the game, so when he puts out free music, it’s a good idea to pay attention. Attack The Block may serve as a teaser to his upcoming album, Prisoner of Conscious, but it’s definitely a standout project all on its own. The 18-track project features verses from an eclectic group of artists including Black Thought, Lil Wayne, Mac Miller, Ryan Leslie, Ab-Soul, Das Racist, and even more. It’s this diverse selection of artists that really makes the mixtape distinctive from Kweli’s previous ventures.

[Hip-Hop] Lil Wayne – Dedication 4 (Mixtape)

The NOLA-bred Lil Wayne has had quite the absurd and entertaining career path. The Young Money boss known for his wordplay and ridiculous punchlines, is a prolific veteran who has released countless projects, ranging in quality from classic to barely mediocre. Regardless, hip-hop fans will forever keep at least one Weezy project in their regular rotation and, for me, Dedication 3was definitely that tape. Since then, he has put out plenty of solid music and continued to sell records when most artists can’t all the while pursuing a new hobby in skateboarding. It is hard to know what to expect from Dedication 4, but if it is anything like its predecessor it will certainly be getting lots of  airtime among his fans. [Hip-Hop] DJ Khaled – They Ready Feat. J. Cole, Big K.R.I.T. & Kendrick Lamar (Prod. J. Cole)

While the last DJ Khaled song focused on hip-hop’s past and the careers of two of its most celebrated artists, this one’s premise is set squarely on the future.  The aptly named “They Ready” features arguably the three best up and coming names in hip-hop: J. Cole, Big K.R.I.T., and Kendrick Lamar.  The song is produced by J. Cole himself and features all three of the young emcees stepping up to the mic and delivering their bars in double time, producing enough energy to power at least two small villages for weeks.  It’s safe to say this is pretty unique for a DJ Khaled track, and it actually had me excited for the direction of his latest album, Kiss The Ring.  Unfortunately though, this song is probably the exception, and not the rule.  Still, this has the potential to be one of his most potent compilations to date.

Look for Kiss The Ring in stores August 21st, and make sure to take a listen to two other recently released tracks from the album down below.
