[Chill] Alex Young / Lontalius – Maybe Your Smile Will
Maybe Your Smile Will
Alex Young never hesitates to switch up styles on his releases. His newest is a big contrast from his recent Skrillex cover/Galantis mashup, which is in no way a bad thing. He decided to to reshape Lontalius‘s short, but impassioned Maybe His Smile Will into an icy soundscape not unlike that of James Blake. A longing for something as simple as a smile drives the track in its quest to elaborate the powerful emotive delivery of the original, and collects reverb soaked synths, tactful bitcrushing, and pitched vocals pining for the slightest proof of silver lining into a skillful union.
This is the type of track tailored for reflection. Not just for the artists involved, but even/especially for the listeners and fans. Maybe Your Smile Will is absolutely one of Alex Young’s best tracks, not only for the reaction it triggers, but also for showcasing his range as a producer. There’s a glimmer of hope within the song’s overall message, allowing the possibility for a return to a reassuring environment even within overwhelming turmoil. Let this new Alex Young and Lontalius tune comfort you in a trying time, and enjoy above.
