[Electronic] REPRIISE – TEMPLE

REPRIISE
TEMPLE

When it comes to celebrating October 31st, most people do so with costumes and horror movie binges, but many electronic music fans usually supplement that with the yearly installment of RL Grime‘s Halloween mix. The sixth year in a row of wild premieres, edits, and unreleased material continues to find RL Grime establishing his annual mixes as an opportunity to share not only his own tracks, but also give aspiring producers a chance to level up on a larger playing field.

One unnamed song in particular has had people commenting, and, due to recently finding a post on r/trap, we were able to discover that REPRIISE had posted a massive club/trap/tribal hybrid track that held its own among all of the huge songs throughout the mix. While it was edited with Cardi B’s “Bodak Yellow” in the mix, hearing the song in its original state solidifies its infectious rhythm with drums and percussion fit to bust your speakers. The entire Halloween mix never fails to be a spectacle, and REPRIISE certainly had created a chance to capitalize on an enormous original tune. Catch more of REPRIISE’s material here.

RL Grime- Kingpin (Gorilla Bass Remix)

Wacky tunes are fun. Even if you don’t necessarily enjoy them, you can tell that they have a creative character that’s not simply a remolded hunk of sound. Take this remix from Gorilla Bass, whose take on RL Grime’s “Kingpin” is not your typical trap tune. In fact, not only are you taken to the trap, but you dive into some quirky jersey club action that makes this remix one dope listen. Chances are you’ll give this more than just one listen, and to those who do, you’ll be glad to know that you can grab this track for free. Gorilla Bass brings an interesting sound out of Chicago, with his sound design being something that can make him stick out if he keeps up the interesting work. This remix is four minutes and thirty six seconds of pure fire, so enjoy it. Try not to burn yourself.

RL Grime‘s highly anticipated debut album, Void, is out next week and, if the releases thus far are any indication, it is looking like a massive project. Today, we get the Big Sean-featuring “Kingpin,” yet another strong release that stands in contrast with the laid-back “Remember” and festival bangers “Scylla” and “Core.”  RL Grime’s production style shines on this one with trapped-out production accompanied by a swooning hindi vocal sample–the perfect backdrop for Big Sean’s punchline heavy lyricism. This is the type of song perfect to slap in the car at high volume, preferably in a residential neighborhood. Void drops November 17th and can be pre-ordered here.
