The Trap Dojo #47

First up on this weeks Dojo is RL Grime with a couple of the tracks from his massive new High Beams EP on Fools Gold. RL Grime has consistently released some of the biggest tunes of the trap era thus far, and almost every track can hold its own to classics like “Mercy” and “Trap on Acid”. These were my favorites, but you can get the whole album from Fools GoldRedman hops on this next track with Break Science while Diplo teams up with everybody for this track celebrating his one millionth twitter follower. The Socialytes mash-up a couple trap classics with the new Jay-Z and some old school Snoop Dogg gets a new school gansta-trill flip from Gooffee.  The next bunch of songs are all foot working, ass shaking, fist pumping party starters that get seriously turnt up before it calms down again at the end with some incredibly laid back remixes of “Get Lucky”, Alicia Keys, and even “Summer Breeze” by Seals and CroftsWith the exception of the RL Grime tracks at the beginning, every song this week is free, so hit that “Buy” button, like the artists on facebook and get free music.

Download all ten tracks hereDancefloor Junkies will have you “Ready 4 Action” with their dark “Black Skinhead” remix. A couple electro-trap pop remixes of J. The Trap Dojo #41

We’re kicking off this weeks Trap Dojo in a hard way with the newest track from trap music prodigy Alex Young, an original titled “Mastermind”. Don’t let the emotional electro build-up fool you, when this one drops, nothing will stop you from banging your head and attempting to shuffle, no matter where you are. Vinnie Maniscalco puts a fresh spin on an old favorite this week, remixing The Champs classic tune “Tequila”. With heavy bass and clever drum work, he flips the familiar sax tune on its head. Ookay and Pyramid Juke come together for a huge collaboration with this minimal track “Yen”, hope you have your subs turned up for this one. The name Aylen should be a familiar sight to you ninjas, so you know when he remixes Porter Robinson the result is going to be massive, complex trap banger. Both ETC!ETC! and CRNKN bring us two very different remixes of Tokimonsta. ETC!ETC! pulls some huge 808s and snares over some lyrics by Kool Keith, while CRNKN chills it out a bit. TRILLWAVE remixes “Good Vibrations” by Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch on their nostalgic EP www.trapgodz.com which also includes a remix of “What is Love” and “Believe” by Cher Theres plenty more heaters for you to discover in this weeks dojo, so be sure to check them out.

[MP3 Playlist] The Trap Dojo #25

Kicking off the 25th edition of The Trap Dojo, we have a huge remix of Rihanna’s “Jump” from Club Cheval, the same group that was behind the Nero – “Won’t You Be There” remix. This version keeps Rihanna’s chorus, a cover of “Pony” by Ginuwine but fills in the blanks with some hot verses from Theophilus London and some hot trap beats. Next up is D!RTY AUD!O‘s track from the recent Trap-a-Holics Certified Trap 2 Mixtape filled with frantic synth work and aggressive verses. After remixing “Milkshake” by Kelis, GoldTop shows that they have a flair for remixing silly female tracks into full on trap bangers, this time hitting “Lip Gloss” by Lil Mama. Hard hitting basslines, horns and sharp drumwork keep the track fresh and is sure to be a dancefloor smasher. Bird Peterson is back with another of his Drankenstein remixes, this time taking on the spacey, prog-house track “Cosmos” and keeps many of the great proggy elements, while still completely transforming it into a definitively Drankenstein track. The next track, from newcomer $1 Bin is full of horns that are on an epic scale, building up the aura before dropping it into a grimy dirty bassline with all the snares you could ask for. This is super tight production, and i’ll definitely be keeping an eye on this guy in the future. The rest of the list has plenty of favorites like O.G. Status, Huglife and Knuckle Children all with fresh tracks for you, so make sure to check them out and enjoy them. CNTRL starts off the Cool Down, fusing his hip-hop sampling with trill bells and a deep bassline. Hucci makes use of his sample from The Temptations “Here I Come” in his trill banger, while Alter Natives close out the list this week with the emotional “Sierra’s Theme”. Clearly inspired by tracks like “Lana’s Theme” from Flosstradamusthey turn the original Freshly Ground song, “I’d Like” into a heavy, emotionally charged trap anthem, whose quality is right up there with “Lana’s Theme”

[MP3 Playlist] The Trap Dojo #23

I apologize for the delay with this weeks dojo, but we’re coming at you with so many huge hits this week that i’m sure it will make up for it. Jumping right into it, Team Bayside High takes on the task of remixing a truly classic dance hit, “Make You Sweat” better known as “Everybody Dance Now”. They do all the right things to this remix, with several different trap builds and drops, emphasizing the famous lyrics or their own take on the melody. Next up is the masked man himself, UZ, remixing Birdy Nam Nam. You may have seen this posted earlier this week as part of the Birdy Nam Nam Remix EP. This track is incredibly funky with great drumwork throughout. Butch Clancy continues his Trap Tuesday series with this weeks “Dopeboy”, my favorite trap track of his so far. With huge bass and bells, this is real gangster trap shit to rattle the trunk as you’re driving through the hood. Heroes X Villains, a name who we see far too little of teases us with the full preview of their remix of “Jah No Partial”. Even though they don’t release as frequently as others, every track is fire, and this track proves they are worth the wait. A couple weeks ago, I told you to keep an eye on Snails in 2013, and so far he has lived up to that hype, releasing this massive heavy hitter, as well as a killer dubstep track this week alone. Trap Dojo regular Ookay is back, having just signed to Borgore’s label. “Hey Freak is filled with blazing high synths and some serious footwork set to make you kick up a storm. RaceCarBed just released a new EP this week filled with deep basslines, and oozing with purped out swag. Click the “Buy” link to get the whole EP. Grandtheft, who you probably recognize from his insane collaboration with Diplo kills this remix of “Tuna Melt” that will have you saying “Damn son, where’d you find this sandwich?”. While Dubstep is still not an old genre by any means, there are still a number of tracks that you can consider classics, one of which is “Sweet Shop” by Doctor P. While its always tough to remix a classic, Big Makk keeps it fairly simple, adding some drums to the notoriously high pitched drop, while chopping up the synths only enough to really trap it out, before going really hard in the second half.

A few tracks later, which are all great, but I wont mention because this post is already getting out of hand, comes the cool down section of our dojo training. I never thought I would be putting Justin Beiber on the dojo, but the way this is chopped and screwed into a Future Trill ballad had me playing this one on repeat. Lastly, Huglife seems to have created a subgenre of his own: Indie-Trap. This track shows what i really love about Huglife, whether he’s producing big-room bangers, or remixing indie coffee shop tracks into some chill love trap, its always above par.

[MP3 Playlist] The Trap Dojo #15

This weeks Dojo starts off with the most established new names in Trap music. Huglife, who was formerly known as Dj Slink was forced to change his name when a conflict with DJ Sliink ultimately resulted in Slinks Soundcloud page being deleted and losing over 7000 fans. After changing his name to Huglife he is back with a vengeance with this huge remix of Dada Life‘s banger “Kick Out the Epic Motherfucker”. Be sure to hit up his new Soundcloud page and show him some support. The Tokyo homies Watapachi have been making some pretty serious moves lately and one of them is this huge original track “Let’s Get Ratchet”. While it might not be the perfect track to tear up a dancefloor, if you are pregaming on your way to the club, this is definitely the one to play. Speaking of Japan, this next track, a remix by Ken Takahiko is absolutely crazy. While you probably won’t understand the lyrics, “Gangnam Style” proved that doesnt matter so get up and horse dance to this insane remix. Party Favor released this track that proves its possible to floss on a $20 budget. Shopping at a thrift store or wearing your grandparents was never this trill. You probably saw the post about Datsiks Trap VIP remixes, but this one deserves to be mentioned again. “Bonafide Hustler” was just begging for a trap remix, and who better to do it than the man himself. After listening to this version, I can’t even remember what it ever sounded like in the first place. As usual, you’ll hear plenty from familiar names like D!RTY AUD!O and some that you’ve probably never heard before, before Kid Womp slows it down with some love trap to finish off this week
