[Future Trap] Terra – Birthday Beauty (Party Platypus Remix)

Terra
Birthday Beauty (Party Platypus Remix)

Here’s a track to ease your daily struggles. Little is known about Party Platypus, but the mysterious producer sure knows how to bring out the fun in everybody. Stripping Terra‘s “Birthday Beauty” to bare bones, Party Platypus dresses it up with a trap beat and clever samples.

Hold me down my friends, we are the ones to show them out

The same sample is echoed throughout the whole track, and is tweaked each time around with more samples for more excitement. The chipmunked vocals and other crafty maneuvers are fused to create a sound resembling Trippy Turtle and Wave Racer. The upbeat and loosening vibe makes it one of those tunes you won’t ever get tired of listening to. Maybe he’s an actual animal producer, or maybe it’s just his moniker. But what we do know is that Party Platypus will make your day that much better with this lovely jam.

Tiësto & KSHMR Ft VASSY
Secrets (ARMNHMR & DATHAN Festival Edit)

Every once in a while you come across an awesome track that just makes you jump up and down uncontrollably. Southern California-based duo ARMNHMR (proonounced “arm and hammer”) just released this epic remix of Tiesto‘s “Secrets” with their producer friend Dathan, and it’s an absolute banger for many festival goers. Slightly speeding up the bpm, the duo cleverly incorporated trap elements into the mix. The vocals by singer VASSY was the perfect complement to the melodies crafted by the heavyhitting synth. They also spiced up the various beat drops, further shaping the to-be festival anthem. These maneuvers all contribute to the seductive vibe of this track.

If you dig this tune, or you even slightly bobbed your head to this, be sure to show some support and grab a free download of this track here. We can’t wait for their next release!

[Trap] Baauer – One Touch (Feat. AlunaGeorge) (SKULS RIP)

Baauer
One Touch feat. AlunaGeorge (SKULS RIP)

Founded just this past summer, production duo SKULS have covered some serious ground in their youth. The Bay Area residents’ version of ‘3005‘ from Childish Gambino was a #1 record on the HypeM main chart and they’ve released projects OriginalsCorrupt Files & Free Information. SKULS latest is a RIP of Baauer’s successful single ‘One Touch’ featuring AlunaGeorge. The energy from their jolting adjustments could power a city. With such a great original to redress, it’s impressive to hear an even bigger record come out. Well done. They recently scored some songs for a short film entitled The Mind Unleashed, check out ‘Ends‘. Stay in the loop.

[Trap] Waka Flocka Flame – O Let’s Do It (Oshi & Lege Kale Remix)

waka flocka
o let's do it (oshi & lege kale remix)

What happens when a teenager from London and an all around nice guy from Columbus put their brains together? Pure genius. OshiLege Kale team up for a delightful remix of ‘O Let’s Do It’, a substantial Hip-Hop record originally released in 2009 on Waka Flocka Flame’s debut album, Flockaveli. With their shining purification of the original production, we now have enough head space to make room for this once over-played chorus again. It feels amazing. Great samples and progression by this duo. One of the more vibrant tunes to hit the web in 2015.

[SF Giveaway + Exclusive Interview] Buku & Willy Joy w/ Washed Out & Make It Funky, 12/5 @ 1015 Folsom

’Willy Joy & Buku – Punani’

Bass music is in a constant state of evolution with new sub-genres emerging each year. The artists who shine in an often over-crowded space, though, are those who manage to be unaffected by the current trends around them. Two producers who stand out in the realm of trap/dubstep/future tunes are Chicago’s Willy Joy and Philly’s Buku, who recently teamed up for the two-track Meaner & Leaner EP. While Willy brings a festival-ready, big-room sound, Buku provides a far-out bounce and funk making them a force to be reckoned with as a duo–both in the studio and on stage.

Buku and Willy Joy will be taking over the upstairs room at 1015 Folsom SF this Friday, December 5th, as part of their Meaner & Leaner Tour and we’re excited to be offering a couple VIP passes to the show, which will also feature sets from Washed Out and the DJs of Make It Funky SF among others. We also had a chance to catch up with Willy and Buku in advance of the show to chat a bit about their musical backgrounds, the tour life and how they first met. Enter the contest and enjoy the interview below–if you win, you’ll also get a meet & greet with Buku & Willy in case you’ve got any questions for them we haven’t already asked! Please keep in mind that all participants in this contest must be over the age of 21 and bring a valid ID to the venue to pick up their tickets. The winner will be notified via email Friday morning. Tickets are also still on sale and available for purchase here.

TMN:  Thanks for taking the time guys! First off, can you tell us a bit about how you first linked up? A Chief Keef show was involved, right?

Willy Joy: The first time we met was when we were booked on the same show in Washington, DC. It was in a big complex, and Chief Keef had a show in another room of the building. We kept sneaking away from our own show to go watch his. It was a definite bonding moment.

TMN: What caught your attention about each other’s sound?

Willy Joy: Buku has such a strong sonic identity – you can instantly tell if a track is his, and its such a dope, cohesive sound. I’m always drawn to people finding originality in established forms, and he’s carved out an entirely new lane for himself. That’s a long winded way of saying his tunes bang super hard.

Buku: I was and still am infatuated with the amount of energy Willy has in his music. From listening and playing together, I’ve learned quite a bit how to keep the party going wild. When he plays his tunes and special edits live, I usually have to grab hold of something concrete nearby.

[TMN Premiere] Big Sean – IDFWU (CRVFTSMEN REMIX)

IDFWU (CRVFTSMEN REMIX)
Big Sean

It’s been a hot minute since we’ve posted anything remotely similar to this 808 trap, but this new joint by CRVFTSMEN was far too good to pass up. This Boston-based trio has been making some of the best hip-hop remixes out there for quite some time, however they flew onto everyone’s radar in a hurry with this new Big Sean cut. CRVFTSMEN make their TMN debut today with IDFWU, their latest and greatest remix that is just bursting at the seams with energy. It’s still widely debated in some circles how to properly dance to trap, but I can tell you certainly won’t care when this drops at a club as you hurdle your way to the dancefloor.

[Chill] Krubera – Bleach

Krubera
Bleach

UK up-and-coming bass enthusiast Krubera has established himself as one of the hottest talents to look out for in 2015 with “Bleach”. Chill trap is really still being defined as a genre and the limits are being pushed every day, however Krubera rightly earned his place at the table as he hammers home the 808s. However, it’s more than just the drum work that makes this song so hot; Krubera isn’t too shabby at creating melodies either. I see some producers and labels putting out instrumental way less creative than this on a daily basis so let this serve as a notice to Krubera that his time will come very soon.
