[Electronic] ALEXA & Unkle Ricky – Luv Sick ($aturn Remix)

ALEXA & Unkle Ricky
Luv Sick ($aturn Remix)

For better or worse, the chill trap sound looks like it’ll stick around for a while thanks to the meteoric rise of artists like Slander and 20syl. As long as they keep sounding like this $aturn remix, we aren’t complaining one bit. If this kid is really only 16 years old, the future is brighter than any of us could have ever predicted. This new effort by $aturn will pull at your heartstrings and get your feet moving simultaneously, a very rare feat in today’s music scene. Smooth, polished, and crisp; this song is next level and is coming to you from a high schooler for free.99!

[Chill/Future/Trap] The Weeknd – Often (Free n Losh Remix)

The Weeknd
Often (Free n Losh Remix)

Rolling off of the wave of success experienced on their first original release, “Lost”, Free n Losh have returned to remix “Often” from one of R&B’s most intriguing artists, and a favorite of quite a few Ninjas here; The Weeknd. Perhaps some of the most versatile electronic producers at the moment with credits on Mac Miller tunes, an official Pretty Lights remix and multiple trips to the almighty Hype Machine Top Ten charts through gleaming and cutting edge takes on dance genres; Free n Losh have peeled back yet another layer of their collective production psyche with this latest remix. The Canadian duo blends a distinct steel drum over a luscious two-step melody and  and layer it all seductively amongst a sea of contorted snare kicks and hi-claps for a sound completely their own. With every passing release Free n Losh continually impress the hell out of our ears, and this cut might be one of our favorite from their entire catalogue. Grab the free download here, and slip into something sexy for this one, it might get a little hot.

Basscrooks
No Discrimination [basscrooks Remix]

With a few of us Ninjas residing in the great city of Denver, CO and its surrounding areas, we get pretty darn excited when a full blown music festival is brought to the Centennial State. So it’s pretty safe to say you can catch a handful of us at the South Park Music Festival during the July 4 weekend. Put on by Cannabis Network Radio, SPMF features an appropriate top-end of headliners including Slightly Stoopid, Paper Diamond, Steel Pulse, The Grouch & Eligh and more, while also pulling in a more than solid supporting cast from some of our TMN favorites including option4, Blackalicious, Vinnie Maniscalco and the bass leaning duo of Basscrooks. Needless to say, it just wouldn’t be a party without at least a few of our incredible readers in attendance as well, so we wanted to extend an opportunity to come groove with us in the Colorado sun by giving away a pair of free tickets. Enjoy your Fourth of July weekend with amazing live music, camping if you are so inclined, an absurd amount of activities when you need a break including frisbee golf and yoga and oh yeah… we hear you can partake in the combustion of marijuana plants in this state free of legal trouble.

Entering our contest is super simplified. Our only requirements are: You must “like” The Music Ninja, Basscrooks and South Park Music Festival on Facebook, enter your e-mail adress into the widget below and we’ll contact you via e-mail. Our contest runs all the way until June 24th, and there are a few rules, of course:
– You must be 18 or over to enter.
– You are responsible for transportation and lodging at the Festival (Camping is free including rental tents and gear if you don’t have your own, and there are many other great options as well including hotels)
– You must bring a valid form of ID to pick up your tickets at the Festival entrance.
– You must promise to have as much damn fun as possible on our behalf

Good luck, ninjas!

We wouldn’t be The Music Ninja without giving you some music either would we? Denver wub-slingers Basscrooks, who we’re thrilled to catch live again,  just released their official remix of Mr. Collipark’s “No Discrimination” in anticipation of their South Park Music Festival set, and it’s a grimy, twerk inducing edit just in time for the weekend. Basscrooks are truly an exciting pair to take in during a live setting, and we think their polished brand of bass music will be without a doubt one of the highlights of South Park’s stacked lineup. Grab their rump clapping remix for free here and we’ll see you soon!

[Trap] Gold Top & Soulja Boy – Gold Like This

Gold Top
Gold Like This (Feat. Soulja Boy)

Luke Skywalker Indiana Jones (yes, that’s his legal name) AKA Gold Top, is back with yet another floor-shaking sound that is self-described “gold”. To much surprise, hip-hop king Soulja Boy makes an EDM debut, with booming, incessant vocals that appropriately tie in with the track’s bass vibes. This three-and-a-half track throws in a blend of Gold Top’s signature samples, as well as some new and unheard of orchestral structures, which are all wrapped neatly into one aggressive tune. After releasing his free single “I Know” just a few months ago, he bursts back onto the scene with a masterpiece that is nothing short of amazing.

[Trap] Basscrooks – REAL TALK EP

The low-end leaning EDM duo of Elliot Oveson and Akbar Mohabbat, better known by their stage moniker of Basscrooks purvey a hip-hop laced brand of wubby dance music, and their latest body of work, the REAL TALK  EP got us moving in the right direction this morning.
