Houses take on Talamak is a massive departure from Toro Y Moi’s bright-eyed and danceable original, and is better for it, taking the listener on a slow euphoric trip back to the summer, where angelic ‘ahs’ shine through the rain of disjointed beats. Although at first the track seems like a collection of layered rhythms and samples, by the end it has morphed into an involving burst of woozy pop that will surely be soundtracking love, loss and longing in every music fan’s brain for a long time to come.
