Brooklyn’s Empress Of, the solo project of musician Lorely Rodriguez, is a brand new act and one that’s remained mostly shrouded in mystery, aside from YouTube teasers, this newly released track and her first live show at CMJ last week. Though there isn’t a ton of material available for us to gauge whether or not she’s going to be a breakout hit in 2012, this track alone shows great potential. “Don’t Tell Me” is lined with a slow-burning electronic pace, wavy keyboards and longing, feathery female vocals. The charmer is more than enough to keep Empress Of on our radars.
