THE MUCH MUCH MUCH X100 anticipated video game sequel, Portal 2 was released last night and along with it, one of the most wonderful and surprising soundtracks in a video game. It was only last month when Valve disclosed that The National would be creating an original song for this physics defying (or adherence) game. While “Exile Vilify” appears to be quite somber, its careful melodic instrumentation paired with Matt Berninger poetic vocals, creates a much soothing genuine feel. Just purely amazing.

    I fucking love The National. If anyone’s wondering, this track plays on loop on the little white radio that used to play the samba version of the Portal theme on loop from the first game.

    As soon as I found it I stood around in-game listening to it thinking “This sounds a lot like The National.”
