John Darnielle’s The Mountain Goats are set to drop what must be their billionth studio album (actually their 15th) this fall, and to get us all excited, they’ve put out the sensational ‘Cry For Judas’. The Californian Darnielle is now working with a full horn section behind him, which is a new sound for the band, but it works brilliantly with the jaunty rock instrumentals on the song. Coupled with Darnielle’s lyrics – crammed with religious imagery – ‘Cry For Judas’ is definitely worth getting worked up about. The album ‘Transcendental Youth’ is out on October 2.
