Lupe Fiasco may be one of the most polarizing figures in hip-hop, but you can’t argue that he doesn’t produce quality music. After canceling yet another album during an interview at the Grammys (Food & Liquor II: The Great American Rap Album Pt. 2), Lupe simultaneously announced a new title for 2013 in Tetsuo & Youth. With Tetsuo & Youth, Lupe is expected to start from the ground up again, scrapping any music he may have created for F&L Pt. 2. It’s already been verified by the Chicagoan that this particular single won’t be featured on his new project, but is merely a way for him to give his lyrical cords a stretch. Even on his throwaway tracks though, Lupe is able to provide quality far better than most rappers out there. “Lighning Blue” is definitely a banger, featuring an intrepid Lu spitting fearlessly over some buzzing chords and thunderous bursts. After listening to this teaser, we’re definitely intrigued to see what Lupe has in store for us when Tetsuo & Youth drops later this year.
