Phew! what a sad way to end a night. After watching the season 2 episode 2 “Truth or Consequences” of Lie to Me and re-listening to the most depressing song I have ever come across on a tv show, I am pretty much calling it a night and going to sleep. Goodnight.

thanks for the info on the song, it has been bugging me since I saw the show, it’s beautiful but I couldn’t remember enough of the lyrics to search it. Thanks!

A great example of synergy — both song and show got a zap of extra emotional energy from the other.
Thanks for the song ID — still the TV credit that is most often the hardest to find. Even imdb …
For what it’s worth, the performer I’d guessed it might be was Jim White — often similarly intricately moody, but without despair. My favorite of his songs is A Perfect Day to Chase Tornados, but it’s also pretty easy to get hooked on Alabama Chrome, Book of Angels, Bluebird, Buzzards of Love, and Burn the River Dry.

Yes the song is by Soulsavers. Mark Lanegan does the vocals on the song. Other bands which he has been tied to are Gutter Twins, Twilight Singers, Screaming Trees, The Mark Lanegan Band and duets with Isobelle Campbell. A remarkable voice who sprung up from the Seattle Grunge scene with Sreaming Trees but has gone on to release about 6 solo albums since then. Try out album The Winding Sheet!!

Thanks for posting the song info…I heard this last night and was also wondering what the tune was. Haunting and beautiful.
Last night was a good night on Lie To Me for music. I loved the song during the frat party scene, “Bang” by Bijou – such a great party track ( You can watch that scene at http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xaqh89_bang-by-bijou-soundtracks-a-college_music )
