[Hip-Hop] Harry Fraud – Mean (ft. French Montana & Action Bronson)

Although you will never ever catch this ninja riding around in a Scion, I must admit that they are on top of it with their enlistment of up ‘n coming artists. Their collaboration with Danny Brown on “Grown Up” still stands as one of my favorite tracks of his. This time around, they recruit the seemingly omnipresent emerging New York based producer Harry Fraud to create a characteristically laid back instrumental with fellow NYC-bred French Montana (who actually spent the first thirteen years of his life in Morocco) and TMN favorite Action Bronson hopping on the mic.

On “Mean,” Montana kicks things off with his “Stay Schemin”-esque gangster crooning paving the way for the always lyrically creative and comic Action Bronson whose verse proves fitting for the song title. Stream the track below and head over to the Scion A/V site for a free download of both the track and its chill, east-coast instrumental.

[Hip-Hop] Heems – Cowabunga Gnarly (prod. Harry Fraud)

Queens-bred Heems, of Das Racist, continues his string of incredibly dope, albeit absurd, conscious raps with the latest Harry Fraud produced release from his highly anticipated upcoming mixtape. On “Cowabunga Gnarly,” Fraud, a rapidly rising artist, departs slightly from his signature sound setting the backdrop perfectly for his fellow NYC native with persistent, heavy drums and a variety of sprinkled vocal samples. In top form, Himanshu provides some insightful social commentary regarding race and materialism all the while maintaining his strangely engaging and free-flowing delivery. Unlike many artists who attempt to unveil modern issues, Heems does an unbelievable job of keeping the raps simultaneously entertaining and educational with his originality and own brand of comic relief.

Stream and download the unique “Cowabunga Gnarly” below and look out for Wild Water Kingdom, which is due out on November 1st via Greedhead.

[Hip-Hop] Smoke DZA – K.O.N.Y. (Mixtape)

Harlem’s Smoke DZA first caught hip-hop fan’s attention back in 2010 with his impressive mixtape, George Kush Da Button. Since then, he consistently released strong projects, joined up with New Orleans veteran Curren$y’s Jet Life Recordings and put out one of the strongest hip-hop albums of the summer with Rugby Thompson, entirely produced by Harry Fraud. DZA is a talented lyricist with a gritty east coast flow and certainly has created his own brand of lifestyle raps.

The self-proclaimed “Kushed God” released his most recent project yesterday boasting a star-studded tracklist. With features and production from Big K.R.I.T.Ab-SoulJoey Bada$$, King ChipSki Beatz and Harry Fraud, just to name a few, the expectations for K.O.N.Y. could not be higher and Smoke DZA most certainly does not disappoint. This is not a project you want to miss. Check out a few of the standout tracks below and grab the whole thing for free over here: Smoke DZA – K.O.N.Y..

[Hip-Hop] Main Attrakionz – Do It For The Bay ft. DaVinci (Prod. Harry Fraud)

Oakland rap duo Main Attrakionz have carved out a sound of their own that embodies the more experimental side of the Bay Area hip-hop scene. While artists like E-40 and Too $hort continue to manufacture Bay trademarked hits, newcomers like the Main Attrakionz push that classic style forward progressing with little regard for genre boundaries. On their latest single, “Do It For The Bay,” Squadda B and Mondre M.A.N. enlist a fellow emerging emcee from across the Bay Bridge, DaVinci, who hails from the Fillmore in San Francisco. Over the some smooth signature “musica de Harry Fraud,” the three rappers pay homage to their respective homes with the distinct slang and feel of the Yay Area.

Stream and download this Northern California anthem below. The Main Attrakionz upcoming album, Bossalinis & Fooliyones, is due out on October 23rd on Young One Records. Also, look out for DaVinci’s LP, The MOEna Lisa, which is set to drop on October 17th.

[Hip-Hop] DJ Scream – Cassette Deck ft. Rick Ross, Bun B & Slim Thug (Prod. Harry Fraud)

As he gears up to release his debut album later this year, the veteran DJ Scream released this gem today featuring a trio of southern representatives over production from the rapidly rising Harry Fraud. On “Cassette Deck,” everything, from the smooth, jazzy instrumental to verses from Rick Ross,  Underground King Bun B and southern mainstay Slim Thug, pays tribute to the legendary and deeply influential Pimp C. While references to the late, lean-sipping legend can at times come off as cheap and insincere, Scream recruits a prefect squad to create a genuine and tastefully done cut.

“Cassette Deck” literally screams trill ensuring we never forget Chad Butler’s legacy. Stream this single below and look out for DJ Scream’s album set to drop on November 20th on MMG/Warner Bros. Records.
