London’s Tourist. has been earning a reputation as quite the busy-bee as of late, diligently retooling much of his sound from late 2011 and 2012 in favor of a more house-oriented approach – especially with his latest single “Together”, which will be part of a forthcoming EP Patterns out December 2 on Method Records. While most of Tourist.’s past material took its shape through a slow-building, and melodic electronic approach akin to Flume or Ta-Ku; “Together” runs with a four-to-the-floor beat, and an arpeggiated synth doing most of the work. Meanwhile, an ever so subtle vocal sample playfully tugs on your ears for the duration, adding a pop-oriented feel to the tune that only Tourist. could tack on. We’ve always admired artists who choose not to pigeon hole themselves to one genre, instead opting for a complete spectrum of sounds, which many times allows an artist or group much more room to grow and develop their project. Patterns has been highlighted on our calendars for some time now, and “Together” has temporarily whet our appetites for all things Tourist. while simultaneously opening doors for so many musical directions for the talented producer to follow from here.
