Rex Buchanan, the talented and eclectic New York-based DJ/producer has been experimenting with a completely new style. It is really when producers step outside their comfort zone that one can gauge their true talent. Last week Rex Buchanan released “Show me Some Love”, his very own attempt to restricting himself to 110-112 BPM. Drawing from a background in electro and dubstep in his DJ sets, Rex worked to give the track a unified sound while integrating the broken beats, chopped up samples and heavy bass lines. “Show Me Some Love” may not sound particularly compliant with traditional moombahton, but a few seconds in after the first drop and I can’t cant get enough of the retro melodies, that combined with the slow growling basslines directly display the maturity he has come as a producer.
