Shortly after dropping an unexpected free projectJ. Cole gives us the first single from his long awaited sophomore album, Born Sinner. On “Power Trip,” Cole enlists recent Grammy winner, Miguel, for an appropriately-timed love song. While plenty of emcees touch on romance in their raps, Cole has a way of capturing certain intricacies and complexities within relationships that few can articulate quite as effectively. Miguel fits in perfectly over the instrumental providing a dope interlude of sorts. Stream this dope single below and look out for Born Sinner, due later this year.

Roc Nation emcee J.Cole has been relatively quiet this year. After subtly dropping some new singles late last year and pushing back the release date for his sophomore LP Born Sinner, the NC rapper took to the webs today to grace his fans with a new EP. The five-track collection, titled Truly Yours, collects some new material from 2009 to present that wont be featured on his up-coming full length. In an open letter on his Dream Villian blog, Cole has admitted that the next single will be dropped later this week and calls the next album “his best work yet”. Just in time for the fated “end of the world”, J.Cole drops some new heat for fans all over the globe in his track “2012”. On the appropriately-titled self-produced song, the NC rapper is in a celebratory mood as he commemorates the Mayan prophecy. Mixing plenty of spanish percussion with a fast paced beat and quick rhyme, this is one of the few times we actually hear a party anthem from Cole and what makes this dope single even sweeter is the fact that its completely free.
