[Hip-Hop] Wale & A-Trak – Festivus EP

Less than a week after announcing his new collaborative EP with A-Trak, Wale‘s new Festivus EP has finally arrived just in time for the holiday (for those of you unfamiliar with Seinfeld lore, I refer you to this.) Despite how you may feel about the quality of his studio albums, there’s no question Wale has always had a firm grasp on the mixtape game. That trend continues here, as Wale’s latest project falls right in line with previous Seinfeld-inspired works like The Mixtape About Nothing and More About Nothing. With a wide array of features including Pusha T, Chance The Rapper & The Social Experiment, Ab-Soul, A$AP Ferg and more, serves as a promising appetizer as a the seasoned emcee prepares to release The Album About Nothing sometime in 2015. Stream a few of our favorite selections from the project, and follow the download link below.

[Hip-Hop] A$AP Ferg – Talk It (prod. Clams Casino)

" Talk it " Produced by: Clams Casino

A$AP Ferg‘s debut album, Trap Lord, was one of the most pleasant surprises in hip-hop last year making his follow-up a highly anticipated project. In preparation for his sophomore album, Ferg will be dropping a mixtape on Black Friday and tonight he let loose a particularly exciting collaboration from the tape. Teaming up with innovative producer Clams Casino, the Harlem emcee goes avant-garde with a stream-of-consciousness flow over a minimal, distinctively eastern-influenced beat. As Ferg vents about a variety of topics ranging from the ongoing injustices in Ferguson to his personal relationships to his fans, the beat gains intensity until the song goes full instrumental allowing Clams’s ominous production to take center stage. Ferg’s flow on this cut brings Kid Cudi to mind with its melodic rambling qualities adding yet another dimension to his already versatile repertoire. Give this one a spin above–Ferg Forever drops this Friday.

SBTRKT – Voices In My Head (feat. A$AP Ferg)

SBTRKT
VOICES IN MY HEAD ft. A$AP Ferg

Given the releases thus far, it is pretty safe to say that SBTRKTs upcoming album is going to be one of the best of the year. Each song has pushed genre boundaries in original ways and the A$AP Ferg-featuring “Voices In My Head” is, unsurprisingly, no exception. With an airy, yet ominous backdrop, Ferg diverges from his usual trapped-out style delivering a powerful, introspective verse with a versatile flow that adjusts to fit SBTRKT’s brooding, evolving instrumental. Wonder Where We Land is out on October 7th.

[Hip-Hop] A$AP Mob – Hella Hoes

A$AP Mob
Hella Hoes

As they gear up for the release of their upcoming album, L.O.R.D., A$AP Mob took to Funkmaster Flex and Hot 97 to drop their latest single, “Hella Hoes.” Now if the title didn’t give it away already, this new cut finds the quartet of A$AP Rocky, A$AP Ferg, A$AP Nast and A$AP Twelvyy boasting about the numerous amount of hoes they’ve amassed in a short period of time, among other gangster platitudes. While the group isn’t exactly breaking any boundaries with this new track, it is still one hell of a banger, featuring the four emcees flowing over a menacing trap instrumental. There’s still no word on a release date for the upcoming album, but stay tuned throughout the summer, as there’s bound to be more fresh music like this on the way.

For the third installment of his “Week of K.R.I.T.” series, Big K.R.I.T. hooks up with the Trap Lord himself, A$AP Ferg on the impeccably smooth “Lac Lac.” Produced by K.R.I.T. himself, “Lac Lac” is a laidback hip-hop masterpiece, with the Mississippi native utilizing his confident drawl to keep listeners engaged, while Ferg’s flow evokes memories of classic Bone Thugs-N-Harmony. In our previous post, we mentioned that K.R.I.T. seemed to be returning with a whole new level of focus as he prepares for the release of Cadillactica, and these last two efforts have certainly restored our faith in his abilities. [Hip-Hop] BET Hip-Hop Awards 2013: The Cyphers

The BET Hip-Hop Awards finally aired earlier tonight, and while I personally am not a huge fan of the show, there’s one segment that I eagerly anticipate every year: The Cyphers. The Cyphers are really where the event truly shines, bringing together some of the most talented emcees in the game, underground and mainstream. This year’s lineup is certainly a formidable one, featuring the likes of TDE, A$AP MobSlaughterhouseAction BronsonTravi$ ScottRittzJon Connor, and even some jokes courtesy of J.B. SmooveKevin Hart, and Nick Cannon. Check out the cyphers below, and let us know who you think went in the hardest (we’re guessing the popular answer will be Kendrick Lamar).
