[Electronic/Dubstep] Protohype – Hear No Evil EP

See no evil, hear no evil, and speak no evil.

But feel free to play every dirty, nasty, evil electronic/dub beat that you want Protohype.
The young 23-year-old newer artist, whose real name is Max Hype, recently released the second part of his series after “See no Evil” with the highly anticipated “Hear no Evil”. The four tracks EP is composed of all original works and has some very talented vocals lent to some of the tracks.

Protohype starts the series strong with “Fly” featuring the stunning high vocals of Alina Renae. The song is my favorite on the EP; it is full of an unattainable energy that rises from your feet all the way to the top of your head. It tells the simple tale of finally being free from someone and how that has gives people the power to fly and do amazing things. There are intense drum rolls and hypnotic electronic melodies that make this an unforgettable song. “Jelly Roll” and “Bright Side”, which features Ras have a great energy surrounding them. “Jelly Roll” is an instrumental phenomenon that you can’t stop bopping around to. “Bright Side” again takes the powerful lyrics of Ras and combines them with Protohype’s intense musical style. To put the finishing touches on this EP, Protohype finishes with “Shatter” which starts with a mesmerizing violin entrance. The song continues with this beautiful violin throughout the whole song while Protohype loops in his drops and his powerful moments of electronic bliss.
Two parts down, one part to go, we can’t see what speaking no evil will do to our lips.

The Trap Dojo #30

This 30th edition of the Trap Dojo is coming at you with a ton of incredible tracks this week, kicking off with Kayzo & Slander‘s massive Showtek remix. This has that great big-room/festival sound that I’m sure even Showtek themselves would play live and blow the roof off. Next, our friends from Germany, Donkong with a track off their new EP, and another track later in the list. “Jaws” contains exactly the buildup you would expect from a song with that name, but drops into some bouncy trap with more dubstep elements slowly surfacing throughout. Cesqeaux comes with more of that heavy big-room sound, and Smookie Illson flips some classic female dancefloor hip-hop into a beast of a stuttering track with some crazy lyric chops. Virtually the entire second half of the list is filled with Latin and island influences,  starting with Spenda C with some reggae and No Doubt lyrics. There are some remixes of classic merengue, spanish euro-house and finally a couple of double-time moombahtrap songs to really get your feet moving. Finally the list finishes off with a smooth remix of A$AP Rocky from Ray Complex.

[Festival Dub] Trinidad James – All Gold Everything (Protohype & Carnage Festival Dub Remix)

Carnage + Protohype = Festival Dub. They tackle Trinidad James‘ track, “All Gold Everything” and turn it into hard hitting Dub infused banger with sounds that resemble Skrillex’s track “Make It Bun Dem”. Carnage has been on an absolute tear lately, and now delivering this incredible remix. They call it Festival Dub, it’s pretty much just filthy Trap Step but regardless of what we call it, it goes hard. Cheers.
