We all have those songs that we find eeeeextremely annoying the first time we hear them. So annoying that we publicly swear we will never listen to it again. But then someway, somehow, they magically creep into our world and we find ourselves enjoying it more than we ever hated it. You know the one. The song that we blast in our cars and then the moment our friend gets in we quickly hit the next button while expressing how stupid it is. The funny this is, those friends are probably secretly wishing you would have kept it on. And honestly, why should we be embarrassed of our musical taste? Everyone has got that one stupid song or 100 stupid songs for that matter. So be a ninja. Stand tall and let your musical taste fly free…..

Consistency. Something this planet’s unpredictable climate and the Indie Dojo do not have common. ‘Cause no matter if you are currently being slapped in face with an unbearable heatwave or you have ice tsunamis (yes, this is a real thing) knocking down your doors, you’ve always got that weekly playlist to bundle up to or in LA’s case…get naked with. Hey…don’t judge. It’s f’n hot.

Now, we ain’t promising you’re gonna fall madly, deeply in love with every song on the Indie Dojo, but we do promise to drop kick as many craptastic ones as we can. And if you think otherwise, by all means, let us know. Suggestions, comments and/or rants as always welcome over at allegra[at]themusicninja.com. The flood gates have been opened.

When you are down in the dumps, music can be the perfect amount of motivation you need to get right back up to solid ground . And sometimes, if you decide to stew in your own misery and turn on the “broken hearts club” playlist, it can drag you down right along with it. Funny how strong of a hold it has on us. We are basically putty in the hands of music. So whether you are having a good day or a shitastic one, let the indie dojo be your motivational speaker for the next 20 minutes. This particular list just happens to have a PowerPoint of positive vibes all prepared and ready to go….

Please Slow Down
As music lovers, we are constantly on the search, whether consciously or subconsciously, for a musical soul-mate. One who will enjoy the same genre as we do or is completely open to listening to something new. Which makes us feel really cool ’cause that means we get to introduce someone to something they have never heard before. And if the relationship, friend or lover, decides to fizzle, we have forever engraved our presence into their brain. That song = our face.
In our minds, to be with someone who despises the music library we have spent years piecing together would only be relationship murder. This can definitely make the search for the one a little more complicated then we would like to believe. So, if you happen to be so lucky to have found the ying to your musical yang, cheers to you. If you are still kicking dirt down the long and windy road of failed love connections, don’t worry, we won’t judge. In fact, think of the Indie Dojo as your booty call. We will always be here when you need us. And when things get serious with someone else, we won’t be jells. Just promise not to fall into the black hole of a relationship and come say hi every once in while. In return, we promise to not make it awkward…

Point being, wind, sleet, hail, snow, tornadoes, earthquakes and/or more, the Indie Dojos got you. Resilient MFer’s we are.
