[Electronic] Mutemath – Monument (Kasbo Remix)

Mutemath
Monument (Kasbo Remix)

20 year old Swedish producer Kasbo is set to have a big second half of 2016. He’s just released his version of The Temper Trap’s “Fall Together” and is back at it with the official remix of “Monument” by MUTEMATH. Once again, the young producer has shown his abilities to re-create tracks from their core. Here he’s implanted lush, rolling melodies slowing down the original’s tempo while introducing reconstructed, glitchy vocals coming together for a gracefully produced drop.

His “World Away” single released on ODESZA’s Foreign Family label has millions of digital streams and is his biggest song to date since release last fall when he supported them on their US tour. I’ve had this tune stuck on repeat and shared with a lot of my friends. As we venture into the tail end of 2016 don’t take your eyes off this rising artist.

[Electronic] Coolwater Set & RAC – The Coast ft. Jvzel

Coolwater Set & RAC
The Coast ft. Jvzel

Coolwater Set is a project made up of Far East Movement and the Scandinavian artist, Autolaser. As if that doesn’t already sound sweet, they bring in house legend RAC to collaborate on their latest single, “The Coast.” Right now they only have two songs out and we haven’t seen new music from Coolwater Set since last year’s single “Up To No Good” so I honestly didn’t see this one coming. On “The Coast” theses artists blend their own unique styles into a sick electronic/hip-hop groove. Jvzel keeps the cool with R&B backing vocals as the rhythms and bass build together. The resulting tune possesses a diverse sound, one that almost everyone can appreciate. After tuning in, you’ll be happy to hear that a full Coolwater Set EP is on the way.

[Electronic] VOUIIX – June Bug

June Bug

I just stumbled on a new EP by an artist fresh to the scene named, VOUIIX. The Inertia EP has a lot of really creative songs with an experimental yet classic electronic sound but “June Bug,” the project’s lead single, stands out the most. Great use of filters and automation bring in the catchy backing chords and make the song a dynamic listen throughout. On top of this, VOUIIX shows off his ability for sampling, inventive percussion and synth design. Bringing all of these elements together, “June Bug” is simply upbeat and interesting. And after listening you might want to head over to his page to peep the full “Inertia” EP.

[Trap] B-Sides ft. Nevve – Killers On The Loose

B-SIDES FT. NEVVE
KILLERS ON THE LOOSE

With a strong history of tasteful high-energy releases, B-Sides is well known in the world of electronic and trap music. I can be pretty picky when it comes to my choice of dance music nowadays. But B-Sides’ new song, “Killers On The Loose” works for a festival set, an underground club or just kicking it with some friends. A lot of credit is due to the smooth vocals laid down by the singer Nevve. The evolving buildups are the highlight here. And they are fulfilled without being overshadowed when the bass and beats drop in.

[Experimental] MODEL 86 – When You Realise… EP

After hearing MODEL 86’s song “MONO” which was released a couple months back, I knew I would have my eye on this London-based producer. He is fresh to the scene but he is no novice to the world of creating music. His inspiration and ability are up there and if he keeps to this route he might become a well known taste maker. “MONO” served as a stellar promotional single preceding a full EP. It communicated the general sound and feeling behind the idea he had for this project, and it had me eagerly waiting for more.

Now the entirely of the EP is upon us and the creativity MODEL 86 was able to bring to that single resonates throughout the whole album. It is titled, “When You Realise People Are Not One Dimensional Characters In A Movie Of Your Life.” This abstract unorthodox title fits the album’s unique style. Throughout the record, MODEL 86 dives deeper into his inspirations and experimental curiosities.

With hip-hop, electronic and pop influences, MODEL 86’s songs span a diverse sonic palate. The two leading tracks, “Holdin’” and “MONO” are much more straight forward compared to the second half of the album. But the tracks flow together well. “NEED 808” serves as a perfect midpoint. It resembles a disjointed popular electronic song where a catchy melody is taken by storm, overrun by quick high hats, unpredictable hip-hop rhythms and glitchy vocal chops.

Any fans of forward-thinking hip-hop and electronic music will find something special here. So explore the new MODEL 86 EP, “When You Realise People Are Not One Dimensional Characters In A Movie Of Your Life.”

[Electronic] MODEL 86 – MONO

MODEL 86
MONO

MODEL 86 is an intriguing new artist on our radar. His latest track is called, “Mono” and sees the London-based producer blends hip-hop, electronic and world elements effortlessly. This makes for an extremely dynamic listen.

After playing through this one, you might wish you had discovered MODEL 86 sooner. Going back through his catalog, we’re really feeling his other releases as well. Peep this electronic song Holdin’ from a month ago for another taste of the MODEL 86 sound.

But “MONO” is the latest greatest and it might be the perfect out-there addition to your music rotation. There are some cool pitch-bend vocal samples, but hopefully we’ll get to hear a rapper on it at some point too. A few wild bars would really top this one off. If you like the beat, you will want to keep an eye on MODEL 86.
