Don’t let the genre tag mislead you on this one, because French duo The Noisy Freaks have created a dangerous combination of diverse sounds with their contribution to the Without a Twist EP. Taking aggressive dubstep and electro basslines and moulding them into 110bpm, this kind of style could be branded a number of different names. None of it would matter in the end though, because all you need to know is that this track hits hard. It opens with doses of funky sampling and vocal work to immediately induce involuntary head bopping, but that big bass slap preludes to something far more sinister. And when it hits, boy will you feel it. I’ve never heard something that moves so easily between funk and filth, but needless to say this new style has me hooked.
