[Hip-Hop] Gramatik feat. Kennedy Jones – Satoshi Nakamoto (Original Mix)

Gramatik feat. Kennedy Jones
Satoshi Nakamoto (Original Mix)

You may know Kennedy Jones as the party-popping producer/DJ whose slick beats have lead him to travel the world. But, that’s not the only musical talent he has to offer. He’s got heat he ain’t afraid to spit. Just take the single “Satoshi Nakamoto” as an example. Not only do we get some insane lyrics from Kennedy, but it’s atop a beat provided by the one and only Gramatik.

We love that this song starts with the emcee stating “Kennedy Jones don’t rap.” It just starts things off with the perfect tone. He’s not being cocky, just confident in his somewhat unknown ability. From there the beat kicks in and Kennedy delivers a short monologue before letting loose. He raps as a veteran, with a cool, collected tone and lyrics that go deeper than you would imagine. This is real hip-hop. We’d love to hear more of this from Kennedy, whose easily one of the most talented creators and real human beings in dance music. Leave it to him to surprise you with something so good.

[Electronica] Gramatik – Satoshi Nakamoto (Psymbionic Remix)

Gramatik
Satoshi Nakamoto (Psymbionic Remix) ft. Adrian Lau & ProbCause

Gramatik has been a driving force behind the rising popularity of so-called genres like future funk and electro soul in the past few years. As the head of Lowtemp Music he offers a platform for any artist to release music, and on his 2016 album “Epigram” his futuristic, synth-laden, funkadelic sound continued to evolve. Psymbionic is an extremely talented producer who has risen to popularity in the wide swatch of new sonic ground which Gramatik and others helped to break. Although he explicitly steers clear of genre classifications, Psymbionic produces a strain of futuristic funk akin to the material on “Epigram”, so we were stoked hear of his new remix of Gramatik’s “Satoshi Nakamoto”.

Satoshi Nakamoto invented Bitcoins, and Gramatik maintains a thorough interest in tech frontiers. Fittingly, the thematic material in this tune matches the motif of Psymbionic’s current “Biohackers” U.S. tour. As for how the remix sounds, Psymbionic has preserved the most endearing elements of Gramaitk’s sample-collage style, while adding his own razor-sharp basslines and stabbing synthesizers to create a clever new arrangement. As technology continues to pervade every aspect of our lives, banging remixes like this – constructed with the finest musical technology and commenting on technological frontiers like the bitcoin era and “crypto currency” – are tunes to be treasured.

[Seriously Funky] The Beatles x Carlos Santana x Griz x Gramatik – Don’t Let Me Change (Ego Mashup)

DJ Ego calls this new tune a Mash-up, but the truth is that the track is a piece of turntablism similar to C2C or The X-Ecutioners. Really a fabulous track. Really, this track is a mash-up with a mash-up, Ego using Gramatik’s  Beatle’s mash of ‘Don’t Let Me Down’ (listen below). The addition of Griz + Santana is pure funkadelic genius!
