After a week away at Form Arcosanti, there were a bunch of new albums to catch up on from Slowdive, Nick Hakim, Nite Jewel, Hoops & more. The resulting mix made for a more laid back episode until the end where we got into some vocal-driven indie electronic tunes from Nick Murphy and newcomers Worth Way along with some hard-hitting bass music from the likes of Vincent, Flume and Sinjin Hawke.

[Electronic] Hundred Waters – Innocent (KEFF Remix)

Hundred Waters
Innocent (KEFF Remix)

KEFF‘s first foray into production after a series of must-hear mixes comes to us in the form of a delicately crafted rendition of “Innocent” by Hundred Waters. The splendor in the gentle atmosphere surrounding the bright vocals radiates with warmth and an underlying sensation of tranquility as the song progresses, yet there’s an unsettling message buried deep within.

The premiere with NEST HQ describes a perspective of a broken trust and extreme measures taken to achieve a clean conscious, and that’s the sort of context shift and imaginative transformation of a song’s original tone KEFF is already bringing to the table. Something of this gravity is a stark and intriguing beginning to KEFF’s journey as an artist, and the capability to understand and process a serious subject into a song as striking as this truly makes a statement. There won’t be any fluff from KEFF in the future. Be sure to grab the free download of this remix here.

Show Me Love (Big Wild Remix)

Ever since we were introduced to Big Wild, he’s continued to impress with his fearlessness to explore different soundscapes and styles. As he’s continued to rise, gaining fans at an unprecedented rate and touring with both Odesza and GriZ, his appetite for musical experimentation only seems to have grown–staying true to his moniker. His latest remix dropped a little over a week ago and marks his third chart-topping Hype M track. Unexpectedly taking on Hundred Waters‘ heart-warming acapella track “Show Me Love,” Big Wild proves his versatility keeping the relaxing vibe with an ambient backdrop and incredible usage of the vocal sample. Adding to that aura, Big Wild introduces slow-paced percussion and soaring backing synths that bolster, rather than completely change, the original’s allure.

Get lost in this beauty and grab a free download above. Also, make sure to catch Big Wild on his world tour with Odesza–dates here.

nll2015_webbanner_1200x900If you live in the Bay Area, chances are you’ve already been to the California Academy of Sciences either to check out one of their various one-of-a-kind exhibits or for a drink at their weekly Nightlife series, easily one of the best ways to spend a Thursday night in San Francisco. As if an aquarium, planetarium and fully-functioning rainforest weren’t enough to pique your interest, the Academy of Sciences is kicking off its second annual Nightlife LIVE concert series this week, which will transform the museum into a full blown concert venue one Thursday a month through October.

Teaming up with various local promoters and music festivals, Nightlife LIVE has assembled a lineup that features a dynamic collection of both established and up ’n coming artists across genres. The selection of artists are from all over the world, but the Bay Area and west coast are definitely the most well represented with a number of exciting local and regional bands featured. Keeping in the spirt of science, the outdoor stage setup promises to be an experience all its own with an immersive installation from Domestic Data Streams that will use real-time data from the audience to source a piece of digital art. Aside from the attractions inside the museum, there will also be several mini-exhibits from various organizations along other activities at each show. To prepare for this Thursday’s opening and get all our ninjas up to speed, we’ve broken down the acts performing at each show below. You can find some more info and buy tickets here.

[New] Hundred Waters- Me And Anodyne

Florida’s Hundred Waters are an eclectic group of musicians who blend the best parts of jazz, folk, and electro music into one enjoyable package.

The track “Me And Anodyne” from their forthcoming LP is as excited as it is pretty. The breathy vocal lines meander harmoniously above waves of electronic sound and atmospheric delay that give the song an otherworldly feel. Layers and layers build the sound up into its full release at about the one minute mark and work together until the tracks ultimate conclusion.

The song is an excellent representation of the band’s work. If you like it then follow them HERE for updates.
