[NEW] Beyoncé – Beyoncé: The Visual Album

’Beyoncé
Drunk In Love (feat. Jay Z)’
’Beyoncé
Superpower (feat. Frank Ocean)’
’Beyoncé
Mine (feat. Drake)’

The Holiday season is upon us, and in the spirit of giving Beyoncé has decided to drop a brand new album seemingly out of thin air. Titled Beyoncé: The Visual Album, the rather ambitious project features 14 tracks and 18 unique music videos. It’s difficult to determine what’s more remarkable here: the fact that Beyoncé can drop an album with virtually no promotion at all, or that she painstakingly took the time to shoot 18 individual music videos for all of these tracks without any details leaking out. This will certainly be an interesting experiment to keep our eyes on for sure, and we’d like to see what numbers Bey can pull off with her latest studio effort.

We’ve included some of our favorites here, but make sure to purchase the album on iTunes, which includes features from her husband Jay-Z, her daughter Blue Ivy, Drake and Frank Ocean. You can also catch previews for all her videos on YouTube.

[NEW] Beyoncé – Bow Down/I Been On (Prod. Hit-Boy, Timbaland)

Beyoncé
Bow Down / I Been On

Although Beyoncé was the headliner at the Super Bowl last month, it’s been over a year since she released any new music. Well, the Queen B has triumphantly returned, and is back to assert her dominance. “Bow Down/I Been On” is easily one of her most aggressive tracks to date, as she puts all other R&B songstresses out there on notice that she’s not about to relent her crown yet (just like her husband). Over some tricked-up drums, Mrs. Carter switches between sped up and chopped-and-screwed vocals as she talks her trash. There’s a very minimal amount of singing, but the track still accomplishes its goals pretty handily. Assuming this is just a teaser, we’re looking forward to what else Bey has to offer us later this year.

[NEW] Destiny’s Child – Nuclear

In this week’s edition of the completely unexpected is the reunion of the 90s-00’s girl group Destiny’s Child. On the heels of news that the three will reunite and make a cameo during Beyonce‘s highly publicized superbowl performance, Kelly Rowland, Michelle Williams, and Beyonce drop some new material. Their Pharrell produced single “Nuclear” is the first of new works for the girl group in preparation for their compilation album Love Songs to drop later this year. The Michelle Williams, James Fauntleroy and Lonny Bereal-penned lyrics make for a catchy hook over the throwback 90’s vibe beat. Although the tune does sound a little dated, it is refreshing to hear this kind of sound that has been missing from the R&B/pop genre as well as the flawless harmonies of the three women.

Beyonce – Check On It (XXYYXX Remix)

Florida-based seventeen year old production protege, XXYYXX, has been in heavy rotation for this ninja over the last few months. His experimental style often fuses ethereal vocal samples (think Clams Casino) with trap-esque 808-percussion for an incredibly relaxing, at times disorienting, feel. On his latest effort he chops up some classic Beyonce, from the Destiny’s Child days ,with his own assortment of complex drum patterns. The result is a trippy, manic and brief rendition of the original that captures the young artist’s unique sound, which I like to refer to as “cloud trap.” Check the remix, titled “AMAZEME,” below!

P.S. If you’re digging this as much as we are, make sure to check XXYYXX’s Bandcamp and SoundCloud pages where you can grab a bunch of his music for free.

[FULL STREAM] Jay-Z & Kanye West – Watch The Throne

There has been a lot of hype for the collaboration of Hip/hop giants, Jay-Z and Kanye West joining forces to produce the highly anticipated Watch The Throne. Does it live up to the hype? The creative production of Kanye West is definitely apparent in the album and Jay-Z never dissapointes with his connected and fluid lyricism. For me a lot is hit or miss, where a couple tracks immediately stand out better than others.

You can listen to the album yourself below and you can find it on iTunes from today on:
