[Indie Dance] Club Cheval – From the Basement to the Roof (Oliver Remix)

Club cheval
From The Basement To The Roof (Oliver Remix)

French production team Club Cheval dropped the silky smooth house ballad, “From the Basement to the Roof,” a few weeks ago perfectly showcasing their versatility. The official remix EP for the single dropped today featuring a complete re-imagination from ninja-favorites Oliver. The LA-based production duo flip the vibe completely taking it from the basement straight to a disco-ball adorned dance floor infusing their signature funky bass lines. Despite the vastly different feel, Oliver weave the vocals in beautifully and cultivate a gorgeous outro that recalls the original’s laid-back groove. Get down above and, if you like what you hear, head over to iTunes or Spotify to listen to the whole remix EP, which also includes a dope garage take on the track from MikeQ.

[Future] Lido & Canblaster – Rush Hour

Lido & Canblaster
Rush Hour

Lido and Canblaster, both pioneer’s in their own right, are teaming up for an EP due out in a couple weeks and, earlier today, blessed fans with the first single. “Rush Hour” plays out like an escalating back and forth between the two as their styles both shine all the while intertwining seemlessly. The opening of the song finds a balance between Lido’s knack for piano-led, grandiose openings and Canblaster’s frantic percussion before dropping into a banging, chime-layered trap beat that brings to mind Canblaster’s work as part of Club Cheval. The two young artists’ sounds collide for a manic climax before falling back into a beautiful, signature piano solo from Lido. Superspeed drops on April 6th and promises to be a delightfully unpredictable and forward-thinking project. Pre-order here.

P.S. If you’re a big fan of Lido, make sure to check out our pictures from his phenomenal debut performance in SF here.

[MP3 Playlist] The Trap Dojo #25

Kicking off the 25th edition of The Trap Dojo, we have a huge remix of Rihanna’s “Jump” from Club Cheval, the same group that was behind the Nero – “Won’t You Be There” remix. This version keeps Rihanna’s chorus, a cover of “Pony” by Ginuwine but fills in the blanks with some hot verses from Theophilus London and some hot trap beats. Next up is D!RTY AUD!O‘s track from the recent Trap-a-Holics Certified Trap 2 Mixtape filled with frantic synth work and aggressive verses. After remixing “Milkshake” by Kelis, GoldTop shows that they have a flair for remixing silly female tracks into full on trap bangers, this time hitting “Lip Gloss” by Lil Mama. Hard hitting basslines, horns and sharp drumwork keep the track fresh and is sure to be a dancefloor smasher. Bird Peterson is back with another of his Drankenstein remixes, this time taking on the spacey, prog-house track “Cosmos” and keeps many of the great proggy elements, while still completely transforming it into a definitively Drankenstein track. The next track, from newcomer $1 Bin is full of horns that are on an epic scale, building up the aura before dropping it into a grimy dirty bassline with all the snares you could ask for. This is super tight production, and i’ll definitely be keeping an eye on this guy in the future. The rest of the list has plenty of favorites like O.G. Status, Huglife and Knuckle Children all with fresh tracks for you, so make sure to check them out and enjoy them. CNTRL starts off the Cool Down, fusing his hip-hop sampling with trill bells and a deep bassline. Hucci makes use of his sample from The Temptations “Here I Come” in his trill banger, while Alter Natives close out the list this week with the emotional “Sierra’s Theme”. Clearly inspired by tracks like “Lana’s Theme” from Flosstradamusthey turn the original Freshly Ground song, “I’d Like” into a heavy, emotionally charged trap anthem, whose quality is right up there with “Lana’s Theme”

[Trap Anthem] Nero – Won’t You Be There (Club Cheval Remix)

Nero‘s track, “Won’t You Be There” is one of the biggest Dubstep tracks of the year. Club Cheval decided that they turn it into a one of the funkiest and filthiest Trap songs to hit the blogosphere in a while. Bringing an incredibly infectious melody featuring some squeaky wobbles backed up with a massive bass line. This is a rip from Skream & Benga‘s show on BBC Radio 1. Cheers.
