[Chill] The Weeknd – Wanderlust (Snakehips Remix)

The Weeknd
Wanderlust (Snakehips Remix)

It’s been way too long since we’ve heard from Snakehips, and we’re ready to welcome them back with open arms. Just as they did with their mind-blowing remix of BANKS‘ “Warm Water,” the UK duo adds an extra oomph to their take on The Weeknd‘s “Wanderlust.” If you’ve been following the blog closely, chances are you already know we’re huge fans of everything The Weeknd touches. While we love the Kiss Land original, and the Pharrell remix that followed, this enchanting rendition may just be the best version of the single we’ve heard to date. That’s because this Snakehips remix is an altogether immersive experience, highlighted by wavy synths, smooth percussion, and crisp, warm vocals that result in a far more upbeat and lighter listen. Chances are that you’ll never hear Abel quite like this ever again, so keep this one on repeat for at least the rest of the night.

[NEW] Rick Ross – In Vein (Feat. The Weeknd)

Rick Ross
In Vein (Feat. The Weeknd)

A week prior to its release, it looks like Rick Ross‘ latest album has already sprung a leak. Earlier tonight, we shared with you one of the album’s most anticipated singles, “Sanctified.” This one right here though, might be the true highlight of the project. The Weeknd‘s been on quite a tear lately, dropping stellar remixes of “Drunk In Love” and “Or Nah” over the last two weeks. He continues his hot streak with “In Vein,” another drug-induced slow burner that delves into the crooner’s risqué lifestyle and features a chorus where he claims “I don’t got a single sober vein in my body.” We’d totally believe it, and while this is a Ross single, Abel definitely steals the show here (just as he always does). Check out the track below, and let us know what your thoughts are on Mastermind based on what you’ve heard so far. Maybe you’ll even be enticed to pre-order a copy for yourself. Feel free to stream the album on iTunes Radio yourself before deciding.

Or Nah (Remix Feat. The Weeknd)

Less than a week after completely transforming Beyoncé‘s “Drunk In Love,” The Weeknd is back at it again, this time tackling the remix to Ty Dolla $ign‘s breakout single, “Or Nah,” featuring Wiz Khalifa. The Canadian crooner laces the DJ Mustard produced single with his silky smooth vocals and some rather raunchy lyrics, making for quite an interesting revamp. This is definitely one you won’t want to miss out on, and it’s certainly worth the asking price of $Free.99. Download the track above, and those of you looking for some official swag from The Weeknd should check out his Official Issue XO Cut & Sew Collection set to launch tomorrow.

Drunk In Love (The Weeknd Remix)

Just when we thought we were done with the remixes, this happens. In honor of his 24th year on this earth, The Weeknd decided to celebrate the only way he knows how: by dropping his own rendition of “Drunk In Love.” In true Abel fashion, the Canadian crooner replaces the intoxication of the original with his typical musings about drug use and debauchery. With a completely original beat and fresh lyrics, The Weeknd furthers the concept of the record through his own inspiration, bringing the song to a whole different level. Grab a free download of the single above, and make sure to send your birthday wishes Abel’s way.

[Melodic] The Weeknd – Professional (Kicks N Licks Remix)

The Weeknd
Professional (Kicks N Licks Remix)

If you’ve been following our posts here on TMN, you know who Andy Joplin and Jerrod Jordan are, or KnL, as we call them. This DJ/Producer duo is heavily rooted in melodically focused bass music, which is why we’ve kept writing about them over and over again. This time around, we’re featuring their latest release, which happens to be an artist often remixed.

In this take on The Weeknd’s “Professional,” we’re offered up some hearty 808s in accompaniment to soft flowing synths, ethereal production, and delightfully treated vocal samples. It’s sexy, sultry and is probably going to make it on a few of you ninja’s “Bedroom Mixes.”

Just make sure to send a tweet out to the guys if all goes well.
