[Electronic] Whethan VS Oliver Tree – All You Ever Talk About

Whethan VS Oliver Tree
All You Ever Talk About

Whethan and Oliver Tree may have only put out two songs together so far, but they already are demonstrating a calculated approach to crafting insanely catchy pop music. “When I’m Down” marked a deviation from Whethan’s usual sound, and the inclusion of Oliver Tree is what really brought the entire song over the top. Their newest effort pulls back the reins on Tree’s vocals as he focuses more on a co-production role, and “All You Ever Talk About” leans more toward a full-bodied electronic tune than a pop record as a result.

Their distinct collaborative sound still shines through, so it goes without saying that this is yet another earworm from the intriguing duo. We’ve got another free download on our hands, so be sure to grab that and support these guys in any method you can. You’ll be hearing more from them in the future without a doubt.

[Psychedelic Rock] Shadowgraphs – Countryside

Shadowgraphs
Countryside

Shadowgraphs could honestly be a time-traveling band. Seriously. “Countryside” might as well have been plucked straight out of the 60’s. After a pair of EPs, these North Carolina natives are on their way to giving us a full length album in April of this year, and this first taste of it already evokes a tantalizing mixture of new and old.

You may here a little bit of The Doors, Tame Impala, and possibly even some Beatles influence throughout “Countryside”, and it just feels right. Every element of the song, from the organ to the reverb-soaked vocals, coalesces into something of a dream, reminiscent of warmer and better times. While we’re stuck in the middle of winter at the moment, Shadowgraphs is already providing the soundtrack for the spring, so don’t miss out on the pre-order for their album (due out April 7th) on the Golden Brown Bandcamp.

Jumpin (Prod By Josh December)

After dropping a song that even Kate Hudson was bumping, Kaiydo is setting himself up for a massive 2017. You may know him from “Fruit Punch”, but his new tune flips the script yet again for the versatile young artist into a slight throwback sound that’s once again orchestrated by his partner-in-crime, Josh December. It comes as no surprise that he’s already playing festivals like Governors Ball, and this kid has nowhere to go but up from here. Throwing on “Jumpin'” at your next party is a guaranteed win, and if you missed out on his Colors & Sounds project, you’ll want to catch up immediately. Keep your week moving in the right direction with new Kaiydo and be ready for his debut mixtape Kartoons on the way!

[Indie] Sjowgren – Now & Then

sjowgren
now & then

After an explosive debut single, “seventeen”, Sjowgren is back after a twelve month hiatus, and they’ve clearly been working on something special. This is the sort of band that’s already come out firing with their own flavor of indie and pop that instantly sticks with you and will be running around in your head for the rest of week.

“now & then” balances a fresh take on a tried-and-true sound, allowing for Sjowgren to enjoy a slow and steady release schedule, which is clearly focusing on quality over quantity. Every little nuance of this tune is pristine, from the rumbling guitar to the beautiful vocals, so it would come as no surprise that “now & then” could see the success that their previous single has. Lose yourself in this absolute dream of a song today and keep an eye out for more Sjowgren on the way.

[Trap] Ekali & KRANE – Akira

Ekali & KRANE
Akira

THIS is how you kick off a new year. Ekali and KRANE have already established themselves as household names in the ever-changing genre of trap, so seeing them join forces on a monstrous collaboration is cause for celebration.

“Akira” is a marvel of melody and powerful percussion that utilizes the unique and outstanding aspects of each producer’s best qualities in a manner similar to the recent RL Grime, Skrillex, and What So Not smash, “Waiting”. One could even argue that these two might have just upstaged those legends on their new tune, but that’s for you to decide. Either way, “Akira” is going to be getting a LOT of festival play over the next couple of months without fail.

As for the rest of 2017, “Akira” is a strong way to start, and we’re certainly hoping for the possibility of more from Ekali and KRANE in the future. Do yourself a favor and grab the free download while you can!

[Music Video] Samuel Proffitt – Глубина (Depth) ft. Naadia

We’ve come to know Samuel Proffitt very well through his steadfast acceptance of the somber. With the recent release of The Grey Notebook, he’s managed to explore it even further. “Depth”, the final song on the EP, beautifully brings together the heavenly voice of Russian vocalist Naadia with a lone piano bestrewn with waves of reverb and a haunting atmosphere layered with intangible emotional weight. Samuel strove for a simple, yet necessary message in this video, and he details it in his premiere with Rolling Stone Russia by stating:

It’s time that we move past this “us versus them” ideology and realize that Russia, and its culture, is beautiful, profound, and full of feeling. The Russian people are the same as we are: loving, compassionate, and imaginative. They create extraordinary works of art, music, and literature, so to write them off because of preconceived notions and a politically charged atmosphere would only serve to further cement this ever-growing close-mindedness.

This sentiment needed now more than ever. Samuel Proffitt’s wish is to unify, and getting the chance to glimpse across the globe in a dazzling display such as this can show us all that we’re much more alike than we think.

[Electronic] Fancy Cars – Set Me On Fire (ft. Brandon Hall)

Fancy Cars
Set Me On Fire ft. Brandon Hall

Fancy Cars may only have four songs out at the moment, but he’s already making waves in the future bass and pop communities. His latest tune, co-produced by Minnesota and featuring striking vocals from Brandon Hall, is a crash course in the new direction that accessible pop music is beginning to take. Each verse carefully builds to a fever pitch that crashes out of your speakers with gusto and glamour, and if you are at all familiar with Majestic Casual, it should come as no surprise that this is their release. Their tendency to lean toward a sense of escapism and emotion is exactly what Fancy Cars strives for. With “Set Me On Fire”, he’s certainly accomplished that.
