[Deep/Tech House] Guy J – Bungalow

Guy J
Bungalow

Starting his career writing music and recording in his own home at the age of 14, Guy J, based in Tel Aviv, has become an infectious house music producer pulling from the progressive and tech subgenres for the last decade. With friends like John Digweed, Guy J always delivers tracks that can get you vibing all night long. Off of his new EP The Trees, The Sea & The Sun, he brings us the track “Bungalow,” which is a lengthy homage to all things prog and tech house.

The best part of this track is quite possibly the deepest of deep elements he works into the tune. We would even call them insidious. After his Royksopp-like ambient sounds that he leads in with, the ear hears a low-end calling to the dance floor that you absolutely cannot ignore. Bringing in a welcomed snare clap and some more percussion you would literally have to cover your ears to not want to step up and dance to this. Exploring all the depth of a producer more seasoned than many, “Bungalow” is a hit we’ll be listening to on repeat.

[Progressive Trance] Trivecta – Evaporate (feat. Aloma Steele)

Evaporate (feat. Aloma Steele)

For lovers of dance music who just became hip to the scene in the past couple of years, there are decades of DJs, producers, and trends that they’re probably completely unaware of. For this blogger in particular, having been to his first club in 2000, trance always has a special place the continued infatuation with electronic dance music.

Trivecta and Aloma Steele are not a new duo to come together for a collaborative effort. This duo has a slew of songs together and have recently added another one to their growing list with “Evaporate.” This one is a serious dose of emotive, progressive-inspired vibes that go against the grain of his normal melodic dubstep tendencies.

A true musical expedition, “Evaporate” fuses entrancing melodies, steamy vocals by Steele, and flaring elements that come in towards the backend when the crescendo nature of the song is in full force. Sit back, take a seat, and allow Trivecta to guide you through an extraordinary progressive-trance adventure.
“Evaporate” is available on iTunes via Monstercat.

[Progressive House] Oh Wonder – All We Do (Steve James Remix)

Oh Wonder
All We Do (Steve James Remix)

Oh Wonder has become one of our favorite’s acts to see blossom over the past couple of months. Their combination of female and male vocal counterparts and monthly release schedule have kept the flow of music in just the right amount, but every release seems to be more passionate than its predecessor (even when we think this is not possible). The indie-electronic pair’s single “All We Do” has received its fair share of remixes, but 16-year-old producer Steve James just blew them all out of the water with his rework of the emotional single.

Despite his youth, Steve James has only been shooting upward with his aggressive yet uplifting remixes of ZHU, Dillon Francis, and many more, but this remix of Oh Wonder by the Pittsburgh producer may be his most gorgeous masterpiece to date. Providing a sentimental piano line to add depth to duo’s heart-wrenching croons, James pours empathy, grief, fervor, and love into a synth toppling that could be defined progressive house and progressive trance. Regardless of the label, Steve James’s remix resembles the early works of Arty and Armin van Buuren who pioneered the progressive trance/progressive house movements.

His remix of “All We Do” is only available for free download for 24 hours so be sure to grab your own copy here before tomorrow at noon.

[Progressive/Melodic] Calvin Harris Ft. Ellie Goulding – Outside (Anevo Remix)

Calvin Harris Ft. Ellie Goulding
Outside (Anevo Remix)

Melodic house recently surfaced onto Internet sound waves, attracting fans of more mild tones with its incorporation of live instruments like guitars, flutes, and others to keep the mood sublime. But with the surge of producers putting their hands into the melodic pot, the genre quickly became flooded with many soundalike tracks that created a need for a new innovative style.  Cue in Sweden’s newest star, Anevo.

The young producer has definitely turned some heads with the surprise factor in every production he has released thus far, but his most recent remix of Calvin Harris and Ellie Goulding’s “Outside” is one that people should genuinely take the time to listen to. Whether you see it as infusing progressive house into melodic house or infusing melodic house into progressive house, the fact is that Anevo hit it out of the part. Developing a harmonious juxtaposition between Goulding’s soothing croons and serene guitar strums, Anevo strips the euphoric characteristic of progressive house to integrate it into a melodic house sequence to birth something truly refreshing.

This remix is perfect for those late-nights, early mornings, or 3 p.m. coffee breaks where you just need to chill out. Check out the stream above and grab the free download you definitely need here.

The Chainsmokers
Kanye (feat. sirenXX) [ALMOND & SAMME Remix]

Another week, another Chainsmokers post but I promise you this one is well worth your while. “Kanye” has been the self-empowerment song of the summer, and it certainly slaps too. If the original didn’t inspire you enough, it certainly did for Almond & Samme, two upcoming producers who make their Ninja debut tonight. Although this isn’t the first time the two have teamed up, as Yeezus himself would say, this one is God level. With festival season just starting up down south in hotbeds like Australia, Brazil, and the South Pacific, look for this energetic, upbeat edit to pick up some serious steam and support. What may sound like stereotypical progressive house melodies on the surface turns out to be extremely intricate and those vocal chops at the end are something else. Be like Kanye and jam out to this one time.

Help (Elephante Remix)

It’s a well-known fact that Galantis is a blogger’s dream come true. When Christian Karlsson of Miike Snow and Linus Eklow (Style Of Eye) teamed up to start making progressive house we knew we were in for something special; we just couldn’t imagine how great it would actually be. They have absolutely taken the Internet by storm and now seem to building up even more momentum through their touring. Last week, they let out a remix EP and while each track is great in its own right, we think we found the crown jewel. Elephante has rapidly become one of the most well-respected creators in the electro house field, however he flexes his melodic capabilities on this one as the end result is a stunning, practically cinematic, progressive house edit of Galantis’ “Help”.
