It's Time (Matoma Tropical Remix)

We’re not running short on tropical house remixes by any means this weekend so let’s just keep churning them out with Matoma’s newest effort, his own rendition of Imagine Dragons’ “It’s Time”. Good Imagine Dragons remixes are too few and far between however, when one off them strikes gold, it’s an absolute treasure.  Matoma, as you know, is one of many Norwegian producers to try their hand at the tropical vibe and he does it extremely well, producing his own gorgeous melodies that will leave you with a smile on your face long after the song has ended.

Watch Performances From Last Night’s 56th Annual Grammy Awards

Let’s face it: the Grammy’s blow. They’re a total misrepresentation of the actual trends happening in music, and are usually at least two to three steps behind the curve. The Recording Academy is out of touch with the culture, and while the awards still have some meaning to them, the show lacks the same significance it had in previous generations. With that mini rant out of the way, I would like to congratulate all of last night’s winners, and don’t want to take anything away from the artists themselves or any of their accomplishments. What we are here to do today is highlight one of the positive aspects of the show: the performances. From 33 couples getting married during Macklemore & Ryan Lewis‘ rendition of “Same Love,” Kendrick Lamar‘s frenetic display during an insane mashup of “M.A.A.D. City” and “Radioactive” with Imagine Dragons, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr re-uniting as one half of The Beatles, and finally to Jay-Z and Beyoncé giving us a glimpse into their chemistry together on stage, this year’s awards had plenty to offer in terms of entertainment value. Check out some of the best ones below, and let us know your thoughts on which one was your favorite.

[Remix] Imagine Dragons – Radioactive (Feat. Kendrick Lamar)

Imagine Dragons
Radioactive (Remix) (Feat. Kendrick Lamar)

Just when you thought it was safe to get this one out of your head, Imagine Dragons had to pull this stunt off. After a stellar performance together at tonight’s 56th Annual Grammy awards (which you can view below), the Las Vegas natives decided to surprise fans of hip-hop and rock alike with this smashing remix featuring the self-proclaimed king of hip-hop, Kendrick Lamar (a proclamation the Academy doesn’t seem to agree with). Regardless of tonight’s results, Kendrick put together a fiery spectacle that was easily the highlight of tonight’s show, and he brings that same intensity and passion to his guest verse on one of the most amplified, uplifting singles in recent memory. Stream the amazing collaboration above, and make sure to grab your copy from iTunes now.

[Remix] Imagine Dragons – It’s Time (Passion Pit Remix)

As good decisions go, getting Passion Pit to remix your hit single is pretty high up on the list, as Imagine Dragons have found out. The Vegas quartet just dropped their new record Night Visions, and Michael Angelakos and the boys have risen to the challenge of giving “It’s Time” the full synth-pop reworking. While the band have kept the soaring indie-rock vocals and some of the uke, “It’s Time” now resembles something of a tropical disco hit, with shimmering synths taking the lead. One of those tracks that will soundtrack your nights out for many months to come, this version of “It’s Time” more than proves Passion Pit’s talent as remixers.

[Indie Rock] Imagine Dragons – It’s Time

Imagine Dragons are a four piece rock band out of Las Vegas, Nevada. Through utilizing emotional songwriting and a whimsical attitude paired with an unstoppable work ethic these guys have been seeing well earned success lately. I was fortunate enough to catch their set this week at the Bowery Ballroom here in NYC and I was definitely moved by their performance. You can just feel the honesty and power in their songs as lead singer Dan Renolds switches off between wailing his heart out and banging on a huge bass drum. They are definitely worth seeing in your town when they come through on their spring tour, so don’t miss out. You can get a taste of their sound with the free download of their single “It’s Time” below or by picking up their latest EP “Continued Silence” on iTunes today.
