The Trap Dojo #45

Hey Ninjas, today’s dojo is divided into two sections. First off we have some sonic redbull to get you going in the morning and get you through the day. DMNDZ kick things off with a huge remix of Knife Party‘s “Power Glove” that is packing some serious bass. Party Favor plugged a tuba into a subwoofer for this brass and bass banger. Run the Jewels, released a new self-titled EP on Fools Gold Records that has some of the sharpest lyrics and heaviest beats this season. Download all ten tracks hereDancefloor Junkies will have you “Ready 4 Action” with their dark “Black Skinhead” remix. A couple electro-trap pop remixes of J. Cole and Robin Thicke are followed by some heavy moombah from Caligula and some funky beats from CRNKN and LAZERDISK PARTY SEX. Some aggressive grime and thuggin remixes with more trunk shaking bass and sharp lyrics from some sharp MCs will get you over that last hump of the morning.

Hit play on the second section as you get ready to go home for the day and need chill out on your drive home. Tigerblood really cools things off with his entry to the Shackles “Let You Know” remix contest on Trapdoor. Vancouver homies Krusha and Sleepy Tom take some classic jungle sounds and infuse it with some soothing basslines. There is no time I like Rihanna better than when her lyrics are being used for some smooth chilled out patio jams, and young producer GRAVIS adds some cool G-Easy verses to a chill Aylen re-fix. Buzz Trillington continues the chill mashup wave before Free N Losh bring the fire on a couple amazing throwback jams. Ray Charles and Frank Sinatra are among the many amazing remix choices for their new EP “The Best Is Yet To Come” Hucci and Huglife, the latter of whom we haven’t seen in a minute since a feud with DJ Sliink forced him to change his name, bring some solid bedroom vibes. 222 Oceans finish off the list with one of the most experimental Yeezus remixes yet.

The Trap Dojo #35

Last week we included the newest tune from TNGHT, “Acrylics”. A massive tune in its own right, but this week, DonKong had a fever, for which the only cure was more cowbell and absolutely turned it up in this remix. Next, the newest dancefloor anthem from Macklemore gets a huge trap twist from Dance Floor Junkies. With a brainmelting drop filled with lazers and horns, this is sure to keep everybody’s hands up and get all of the party people sweating. A new song from Flosstradamus is always something to get us excited, and this 4/20 special is no exception. The first of many smokers anthems we’re bringing you this week, this FKi collab is just as hazy as you would expect, with killer lyrics. TastyTreat also released an awesome 4/20 banger using Christina Milan and Lil Wayne‘s lyrics and chopping them up with some finely crafted synths for an emotionally charged dancefloor beast. Lil Wayne isn’t going away yet though as Sam F Brings us another hectic remix. Rihanna gets a trip to the trap by The Cataracts & Borgeous. The rest of the list is filled with bangers, with every influence from the most gangster of rap to progressive house and hardstyle. Zombass & Huoratron get very dark and occultist at the end before some deep night time vibes take over to finish it off.

Lazerdisk Party Sex Interview + Ticket Giveaway – Miami, 3/15

Strange name? Yes. Undeniable talent? Yes. Storm Trooper masks? You bet. Lazerdisk Party Sex has a lot to offer, from artists to brand pormotions like the Lovense Gush, which is why we’re more than excited to see them tear the walls down at Project Miami this coming Friday. The LA based DJ/Producer duo has been dropping some amazing remixes for the past few years. Their style is anything but conventional, walking a thin line between electro pop, house, and moombah. In a nutshell, these guy’s throw down dance-inducing party tracks. While to such tracks, you can play games, like the ones on http://66.29.135.128/.

We wanted to get a little insight into the masked marauding DJs, so we fired over a few questions to get a better understanding of these up and coming musicians. Before you dig too deep into the interview though, make sure you scroll down and see how you can get into their next show, in Miami.

TMN: Right off the bat, we have to know how you guys came up with your moniker.

We came up with “lazerdisk” because it was a failed technology, and we weren’t too confident that this project was going to go anywhere. We had our friend announce us before the show, and he added “party sex” to the name, and we just kind of rolled with it. If you are yearning for some body heat while listening to good music, you must first check out hookup site reviews in order to find the most suitable site for you.

TMN: What brought the two of you together? Were you friends beforehand? Did you reply to a Craigslist ad?

We were both living in Burlington, Vermont, and we ended up becoming friends through DJing around town. When the opportunity came to join forces, we decided to give it a shot. We didn’t do a craigslist ad, but that’s a pretty good idea for recruiting background dancers or for a huge posse or something.

TMN: So, you’re getting ready to head to Miami for all of the craziness of Ultra and WMC. What does it feel like for you guys to be a part of the biggest week in EDM?

It feels great man in all seriousness, we’re honored and humbled.

TMN: What has been your favorite show to date? Any in particular that stand out above the rest?

Snowball music Festival 2010. It was our first big out of town show. We were extremely nervous. Chad couldn’t eat, I couldn’t form complete sentences. We only had one release out at the time, so we were set to make a lot of first impressions. Granted we had the smallest stage tent but we had a packed room. And the kids seemed to love our set. Super fun.

TMN: Alright, let’s change it up a little. If you were on a deserted island, and could only have one artist’s musical collection in your ipod, who would it be?

Zack: A Tribe Called Quest. I started listening to them when I was 11 and still do to this day. Each album holds a special place and time for me in my life.

Chad: Hmmm, I don’t know. This question is too tough. I would probably bring some soca or calypso music or something. Something to enhance the island vibes, ya dig?

TMN: Another random one. This is a little off the wall, but we love hearing people’s responses. If your music were an animal, what would it be?

Space Whale.

TMN: Thanks for taking the time to sit down with us! We can’t wait to see your set this Friday.

Sure thing there, bub. We’re excited too!

[Moombah] The Knocks – The Feeling (Lazerdisk Party Sex Remix)

This is the second release off The Feeling Remix EP and Lazerdisk Party Sex doens’t disappoint. Starting with a melodic and funky intro that builds perfectly with the vocals. Then drops into some grimey wobbles with flawless breaks that should ensure this one to be on repeat for a while. A filthy Moombah remix was one of the last things I expected once first hearing “The Feeling,” but it works surprisingly well. Lazerdisk Party Sex deliver yet another impressive tune, that should cure your case of the Mondays. Look forward to more epic remixes off this EP, The Knocks consistently drop tracks that are begging to be reworked. Cheers.
