[Soul] Full Crate – Island Girl Feat. Bluey Robinson

Full Crate
Island Girl (ft. Bluey Robinson)

Settling nicely into the swing of summer, Amsterdam-based DJ Full Crate has returned with another jam. A mainstay to the smooth-electronic music scene for well over a decade, Full Crate has patiently crafted a unique soulful sound. With tracks like “Special” and the remix to Disclosure’s “White Noise”, Full Crate’s appeal is easily justifiable. Coupled with friend and fellow local Mar, the catalog of impressive, highly regarded tracks increases even further – highlighted by “Nobody Else” and “Man x Woman”. Continue reading

[Hip-Hop] T.I. – Hello Feat. Cee Lo Green (Prod. The Neptunes)

T.I. comes through with his latest single, featuring The Voice‘s very own Cee Lo Green, and legendary production duo, The Neptunes. “Hello” seems to represent a new chapter in T.I.’s life, as visualized in the artwork for the track. The smooth track is all about looking forward towards the future and the road ahead, with a hook that instructs us to “Just keep going and don’t look back/And look forward from where you’re at/There’s some jealousy in your rearview/Hello, hello, hello.” It’s as though The King is ready to turn over a new leaf and move past some of his old Rubberband Man ways, while proving he’s still no stranger to hustling for his dough. TIP’s eight studio album, Trouble Man: Heavy Is The Heart, drops next Tuesday, December 18th.

[Soul] Robin Thicke – Another Life

Taking a step away from judging and performing on the ABC talent show Duets, singer Robin Thicke capitalizes on the publicity by dropping a newly leaked single titled “Another Life”. This soulful Neptunes‘ and The Cataracs’ produced track is a soothing tune and Thicke does his label Star Trak Entertainment justice by penning some smooth lyrics. With the right mix of soul and charisma, Thicke gives the track his signature dynamic flow while still making it an easy listen for “the grown and sexy” audience. Coupled with a great instrumentals that mix piano keys, slight percussion, and some handclaps, it is clear how Thicke can bag such beauties as his wife, Paula Patton.

[Hip/Hop] Jay-Z – Glory (feat. B.I.C.)

Celebrating the birth of his new born daughter Blue Ivy Carter, Jay-Z dedicated his latest track ‘Glory’ to her. A slow and uplifting tale of his appreciation for daddy’s little girl. The beat was produced by the Neptunes and includes his daughter crying as the song plays out. I have a feeling Willow Smith might have some competition in a couple of years.

[FULL STREAM] Jay-Z & Kanye West – Watch The Throne

There has been a lot of hype for the collaboration of Hip/hop giants, Jay-Z and Kanye West joining forces to produce the highly anticipated Watch The Throne. Does it live up to the hype? The creative production of Kanye West is definitely apparent in the album and Jay-Z never dissapointes with his connected and fluid lyricism. For me a lot is hit or miss, where a couple tracks immediately stand out better than others.

You can listen to the album yourself below and you can find it on iTunes from today on:
