[Chill] Gosh Pith – Smoke Bellow

Gosh Pith
Smoke Bellow

Don’t call it a comeback, but Detroit’s music scene made quite a comeback in 2014 thanks to innovative artists like Jack White, Danny Brown, and GRiZ. And while the Motor City is earning its mainstream appeal, it hasn’t lost its charm for independent and upcoming artists, such as the Gosh Pith duo. Inspired by the empty streets of their gritty city following nightlong raves and warehouse parties, the two created “Smoke Bellows”, yet the message is clear. True art is always out there, whether we know it or not. In a new era where artists can not only incorporate ideas and sounds from different genres, but distribute their creativity across multiple channels, the need and want for artists like Gosh Pith is becoming greater than ever and these two have the sonic intuition to have true staying power in the industry, whether it’s on stage or behind the scenes.

[Melodic House] Sirena – Chemicals (Addal Remix)

Sirena
Chemicals (Addal Remix)

Here’s a feel-good tune for all of you who are stressed out with exams and work. Italian producer Addal released this remix of a Sirena tune titled “Chemicals”, and it hits us right in the feels. Addal is known for making quality music that possesses a heavy emotional appeal. Stripping down Sirena’s track and adding in a downtempo drumbeat, Addal creates a tune so relaxing and wonderful it’ll make you ponder life. A series of beautiful piano cadences start off the track, followed by some muted guitar melodies. These maneuvers all come together and help convey a powerful effect to all the listeners.  No matter where you are, or what you’re doing, take a minute and listen to this track. Addal never disappoints.

[Indie] Love & Valor – Love & Valor EP

We first fell in love with Love & Valor back in August with their debut single “Truly Dear”. The reception on that (over 10,000 plays) inspired the North Carolina quartet to go and record a full-length EP, and it’s an absolute must buy. Instead of doing the usual track-by-track review, I’m going to try something different here.

Do you like Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeroes?

’Sweet Jane’

Do you like Bob Dylan?

’Pretty Girls’

Do you like Fleetwood Mac?

’Truly Dear’

Do you like The Lumineers?

’Truly Dear’

Do you like Mumford & Sons?

’Shake’

Do you like Jack White?

’Hold Me On My Way’

If you answered yes to any of those, there’s a song for you on this album. All six together make one of the most unique projects we’ve heard all year and we can’t stop listening. If you want to stream it in its entirety, check it out here!

[Chill] Disclosure – Boiling (Deuxième Remix)

Deuxieme
Boiling (Deuxième Remix)

Sinead Harnett, whether you knew it or not, has lent her voice to some of the best electronic records in recent years. Her collaboration with Disclosure on one of Settle’s relatively ignored B-sides “Boiling” is widely treasured across the blogosphere as one of the album’s standout tracks. Her voice just melts into the UK duo’s production effortlessly and the marriage seems like it was built in heaven, until now. Enter Deuxième, a new player in the game from the suburban follies of Connecticut. With Rick Mitarotonda on guitar and Doug Bogan on keyboards/production, the two classically trained musicians give us a redone track that’s groovy, uplifting, melodic, and jazzy. Be on the look out for much more from these cool cats in the near future!

[House] Kove – Drop [TMN Video Premiere]

Having dropped (excuse the pun), his new EP last week on MTA Records, Kove has once again made sure he is firmly on the dance music radar. Entitled “Murmurations”, there are plenty of inclinations that he is one of those artists who will continue to deliver the goods as his profile rises. One of the fiercest offerings on the four track collection is “Drop”, a little ode to the on trend big room sound.

To run alongside this track, we are pleased to unveil the wicked official graphics video that goes with the tune. Check it out – remember you can purchase “Murmurations” here.

[Chill] Elk Road – Hurt No More

Elk Road
Hurt No More

The bar for creativity in the electronic music sphere is being raised more and more every day and Elk Road has been doing most of the lifting. Though he isn’t a household name yet, the young Aussie soundscaper is well on his way to becoming one, not only through the superb productions exemplified through his newest release “Hurt No More”, but also through his own imprint Deer Lane. When words cannot describe a song in enough detail, sometimes the second best thing to do is listen however I will try and leave you with some parting thoughts. Before you melt away in this track completely, we want you to try and think of a song you love that sounds even remotely like this. Pretty tricky right? You definitely hear GRIZ and Pretty Lights elements to it, but it’s certainly an Elk Road record. The other thing you will probably notice is that while you can definitely identify this as an Elk Road track, you can’t really put a finger on why. You’ll go through his discography and discover no two of his songs sound alike and in fact what you are identifying as his personal brand is predominantly based on a craftsmanship and dedication to originality that us Yanks simply can’t match. Any genre, any BPM, any vocals; Elk Road will do it better.
