[Electronic] Justice – Safe and Sound

Justice
Safe And Sound

Take a moment from your daily Pokemon catching rituals and think back to 2011. Was there even color TV that long ago? How did we get around before Uber? Remember what you were listening to? I would wager that – like all of the TMN staff – you were jamming to Audio, Video, Disco on repeat. Today, almost 5 years since AVD’s debut, French duo and electronic masterminds Gaspard Augé and Xavier de Rosnay have returned with their newest release, “Safe and Sound”. Continue reading

[Remix Package] HELENA – Levity

Rewind a couple of months and rising star HELENA released the highly infectious ‘Levity’ ft. Shawnee Taylor on Ultra. It certainly hit the spot for fans and DJs alike and remains a staple on the electro house circuit to this day. Now, to be released on July 28th via the label, a four-track remix EP lands – manipulating the original’s vocal hook and pulsating rhythm to new territory.

Stepping up first is young New York producer Fareoh, who delivers a gently building remix based around the soft use of piano in the intro. For those wanting a deeper and slightly darker sound, Maarcos is your man. Going for a more tech-inspired rework, he uses the ricocheting pulse with intense detailing. None of the energy is lost, but it’s a chanced to delve beyond the obvious core of the tune. Italian duo Merk & Kremont provide the third addition, pouring in their trademark groove and bounce, and making their edit full of fun. The fourth and final remix is yet to be revealed, and HELENA will have selected a winner from a recent TalentHouse competition.

Getting to know: Starz Angels [TMN EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW]

Starz Angels Feat Mariana Bell
Up Tonight [Now on Beatport]

Light-hearted dance music duo Starz Angels dropped the infectious, fiery ‘Up Tonight’ on Dutch label Made2Dance a couple of months back, and the tune has just come to attention once again, via the release of its unofficial video. The original track, featuring wonderful vocals from Mariana Bell, gathered a solid selection of support across the scene, and increasing the French pair’s popularity as producers and DJs. Ahead of the unveiling of their fun-filled antics in the video, we caught up with Starz Angels to find out more about their music.

TMN: How long have you been writing music for? Has it always been as a duo?

SA: We started producing together 4 years ago. We sometimes produce together and sometimes separately either for Starz Angels, or for other artists.

TMN: You recently released ‘Up Tonight’ with Mariana Bell. What was it like working with this talented vocalist and how did you come up with the lyrics for the track?

SA: It was very easy and pleasant to work with Mariana. She is very efficient and immediately understood our universe. While humming the melody, the first words that Mariana came with were “I will keep you up tonight”, from there we exchanged ideas around that theme so she could develop the song writing.

TMN: The ‘Up Tonight’ Official Music Video has finally dropped. How long have you been working on this?

SA: Between the organisation, the filming and the post-production, this project took us just over a month of work. When you watch the music video, it may seem simple, but it is a lot of work, especially because we intervene at each step of the production process.

TMN: We see one of you dress up in the famous Kiss masks. Was that for a bit of fun or have they been an influence on you musically?

Ka-ess: People used to call me “Kiss” when reading my DJ name; in fact it is pronounced “Ka-ees.” So eventually I had to pay tribute to the legendary rock band!

Le Kid: The drop has always made me think of a metal /rock track, with a headbanging electric guitar riff. It was a good time to pay this tribute.

TMN: What’s next for Starz Angels in terms of releases?

SA: We are mainly working on Big Room tracks to rock festivals and clubs. Stay tuned!

Alex & Vicki's Journey (Original Mix)

James Egbert and Ecotek are back at it again with another buzzing electro house collab. This track displays both artists talents well, showing off Egbert’s ability for sharp electro synths, and Ecoteks progressive songwriting abilities. The end result is a dark, driving, and hard hitting track that begs to be played at raves, festivals, and after hour parties.

While the two both have their own thing going, we always love when they put something out together. Look for this track to drop tomorrow on FuzionMusik

January 2010 Electrogasm via Nashville Nights

nashvillenights

After getting an Xbox 360 and announcing my gametag: nTsBacon (notorious bacon, add me!) the electronic junkie over at music blog Nashville Nights has ever since joined me on owning n00bs in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (his gametag is sicknastyyy).

Besides from owning little twelve year olds on the Xbox, Joseph from Nashville Nights posts quality written reviews with electrogasmic mp3’s. The following are just a couple of the best pop electronic songs I discovered through NN. But please, dont let this stop you, go stream all his songs on his hypem profile.

ellie-goulding-001

British singer-songwriter Ellie Goulding is an emerging electropop artists best known for her 2009 single “Under The Sheets”. Her vocals are a tad bit too synthetized for my liking but just like with Little Boots, both their music contains a solid foundation of melodically rich vocals to which dj/producers can easily exploit, stripping them of their dignity. However, thanks to gentlemen like Russ Chimes the song is dressed up with a much-needed upbeat electronic dress, working around the curves of Guildings new single Starry Eyed. The result is a glamorous, sexy and much danceable tune… an electrogasm – Read NN’s original Post

timbalandkaty1

To be honest I was surprised to find out this was Katy Perry singing. I focus my attention on a lot of indie-releated news and music that a lot of things happening with mainstream artists go under my radar. I heard this track before the original that was released a couple of weeks back. Chew Fu took out all the boring pop elements that made this song mediocre and injected it with a colorful electronic juice. Now I can’t stop listening to it. The original does not compare… electrogasm!

computer club logo

‘Like the final round of a videogame tournament, Computer Club’s music is loud, aggressive and spattered with grimy funk. A tendency toward the heavy, distortion-tinged sound of electro house is well balanced with his penchant for funk-laden interludes amongst the banger blitz’

DANCE DANCE DANCE! Computer Club’s remix of Elevatin by Wired All Wrong achieves a perfect balanced between aggressive dirty electro house and more subtle unaltered samples.
