[Electronic] Milk N Cookies – Tasty Beats, Eternal Spring Break

Milk N Cookies
Tasty Beats Vol. 3, Eternal Spring Break

SPRING BREAK FOREVER, Y’ALL. As the weather heats up across the country and the youths flock to the shores and poolside, the hour-long party mix season is at its peak. We’ve seen and posted a few golden ones over the past couple weeks, but we wanted to switch it up and showcase something a little different. In preparation for their debut EP due out very, very soon, the Milk N Cookies boys are at again with an electric, eclectic mix that will have you asking the DJ and the bartender for more. After the ethereal intro via our boy Jim Carrey, the twins preview one of their originals off the upcoming EP before jumping across all genres from Justin Bieber edits to Tove Lo anthems. It feels like college all over again, doesn’t it?

[New] M.I.A. – MATANAGI mix for Kenzo

MIA
MATANGI Mix for Kenzo

As fans patiently wait for M.I.A.‘s new album MATANAGI to drop this April, she teases them with a new mix. The track, which serves as a prequel to her upcoming effort, is a collaborative effort with fashion house Kenzo. Mixing some tribal sounds, Hindi chants, heavy drums, the Sri Lankan artist jumps on about 4 minutes into the track and switches up the beat  for a hip-hop mix coupled with a “thankful” rap. Although the track is 8-minutes long, it sounds like a perfect mash-up of multiple songs and rhythms that make for an infectious listen. Check out the dance track below.

[Trap] Bird Peterson – Drankenstein 4

Last week, Bird Peterson, the producer from Austin, Texas released his fourth, and possibly final chapter in the “Drankenstein” mix series through Mad Decent. For over a year, Bird has been using the Drankenstein handle to remix popular electro tracks, turning them into instant Trap bangers. While his remixes are great, his Drankenstein Mixes have always been something very special. Filled with (mostly) Trance classics, with a healthy amount of heavy dub bass, Bird traps these tracks out, not simply by increasing the 808s and snares and throwing in the odd gunshot or “Damn son” sample, but instead by expertly layering lyrics by some of the best dirty south Trap rappers like Three 6 Mafia, T.I., Future and Crime Mob over every song. Now, Bird has given us the entire mix separated into the individual songs, resulting in 15 incredible mashed-up tracks that would fit well into any Trance or Hip-Hop set, or act as your soundtrack when you are hitting the streets. Below are a few favorites, but be sure to cop the whole thing here!

’Drankenstein 4 (Where U From)’
’Drankenstein 4 (Thuggin)’
